BREAKING: Sources Report Senate Republicans Caving on Guns | RedState
Sources inside the Senate tell me that the Republican Conference is scared to death of the tactics of Senators Lee, Cruz and Paul that it is supposedly putting them in a tough spot.
Several of the Republicans are using the Manchin-Toomey compromise plan as an excuse to cave on the gun filibuster. They claim that Senators Lee, Cruz, and Paul are running ahead of the conference in their insistence on a filibuster.
What they fail to see is that the cloture vote is the vote to stop the gun legislation from passage.
Several Republican Senators intend to vote against the filibuster, but then vote against the overall bill. This is too clever by half.....

The GOP is dead, they just don’t know it yet.
Why do you assume the GOP wants to win?
Because the D.C. Repubs get squeamish when the Left brings up the spectre of slaughtered kids... suburbia starts to swoon...
Someone has their FBI files?
Precisely! The fix is in, and these bastards are part of the Scam - all should be impeached and then hung.
They get a kick out of putting Justice Robert in between a rock and a hard place.
Because the moderates fear losing power. They are willing to lose us as long as the democrat party will welcome them.
They’re progressives, that’s why.
“Republican” these days is just diet Obama, or if you prefer, Obama Lite. I’m done with this party. The GOP was my last bastion of refuge, but they have abandoned me.
I am sick to death of Republicans except for the ones actually trying to stop this.
Because they want to make sure they get invited to all of the cool parties from now on.
Because we are being offered two parties; the distinctions between them are similar to the distinctions between Coke and Pepsi.
A necktie party would be appropriate.
It does matter what they do.
They are not the Boss of us.
“slaughtered kids” like abortion? Oh no, the GOP would never highlight the Dems hypocrisy there, no..
Tyrant Kim Un Obama must be very pleased that his efforts have so easily FUNDAMENTALLY CHANGED THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
Exactly. They still get the perks, don't have to deal with what they cave on, and get to go to all the DC parties. Great work if you can find it..
I, too, am done with the R party, done with politicians, and done with the socialist media.
They may think that they rule me because I live in the US. They are mistaken. They do not rule me, nor do they tell me how to live my life, flush my toilet, build on my property, or possess the firearms of my choice. We will all be fine as long as they stay the hell away from me.
Our public servants are not our rulers, and it’s time they were reminded.
The GOOBer’s say they want to pick and choose the battles to fight. They just haven’t found one that they like yet.
I do not recognize the authority of any other man to tell me I must check with them before I buy or sell a gun.
FBI files and more importantly exclusion from DC cocktail parties.
They’ve probably been McConnel’d. Has anyone mentioned how easy it easy it is to hack computers and cell phones and activate their microphone? Planting ‘bugs’ is old school. I heard today one of McConnell aides on radio saying how FBI searched their offices, and I’m thinking, For WHAT? Put a rootkit on anyone’s phone and computer and you can record anyone within earshot.
It’s time for Dr. Pepper to break the deadlock.
That kind of thinking is why I’m out of the party of chickens....and so afraid they are going to lose their cushy jobs on our tax dollar.
I agree. Those outside of the Constitution have no authority over us.
Sure, they can jail us, tax us, persecute us in many ways. They have the POWER to do that - they are drunk with it.
They revel in what they perceive as our fear of them - because they fear us. They NEED us to fear them. WE are the producers, without us, they would have to see what they are.
Its about time we understood, and acted on this simple, rightful truth.
Ye wee stupid beasties
They’d all like to be hung ~ I think you mean HANGED!!
Oscar Mayor Weiner hung himself.
“It’s time for Dr. Pepper to break the deadlock.”
I’m thinking more like Knob Creek
(and yes that can be taken two ways)
Or their Google searches
Same reason all we do is post.
Our forefather didn’t post.
Okay, give us all your suggestions on what to do besides posting here. We’re all ears.
Because we are being offered two parties; the distinctions between them are similar to the distinctions between Coke and Pepsi.Because a third party arose early in the 20th century and gradually took over the Republican party.
I am thinking of becoming a futilitarian as this bleak and languorous mood ever so slowly but steadily creeps into my perception of reality.
In years past, I have given thousands of dollars to the GOP and Republicans, but the RNC mailing that I got today went into the shredder without a glance.
From it’s formation, the GOP has always been a left of center party. There is no major conservative party. We need to change that.
Yes, they did. They wrote articles, posted bulletins and had meetings for more than a decade. The volume of writing they did was voluminous.
They eventually go to their homes...
Rino John McCrap comes to mind...
Because they are members of the ruling class and it makes them very uncomfortable when the peasants have guns. This is as much as they think they can get now. So they’ll take it and wait anxiously for the next school massacre.
Just curious...If the GOP has abandoned you, where will you go?
Republicans aren't worried about their Oath of Office (Defending and upholding that faded old parchment...) All they are worried about is getting re-elected. And right now the idiots in charge think gun control is a winning issue.
If the idiots in charge thought mandatory anal exams using red hot curling irons was a winning issue they would be for that.
They don't care about their Oath, it doesn't even register on their "inside-the-beltway-group-think" radar.
No, and it wouldn't do any good any how... problem is the Right isn't taking abortion seriously. We throw principled, pro-life candidates like Akers and Muordoch under the bus, killers of their unborn children go on book tours professing "guilt" about their aborted babies, but getting attention and $$ for telling the tale... I brought this up recently with a "pro choice" gal I know and she just stared at me and said "so, I think I commit murder every mentrual cycle?", and just went on about oppression of women. In another thread people are discussing being "pressured" into aborting fetuses that may (or may not!) have defects... Really, where are people's moral spine?
I don’t know :-(
At this point, I’m a political refugee.
“...Im a political refugee.”
You are not alone...not that that is any consolation.
Ahh, yes, hanged - my grammar has been slipping slowly but surely. Thanks for reminding me of that ;o)
