Even TPM seems incredulous. The left’s supposed to wait until after Republicans help pass amnesty to start shrieking that they’re Latino-hating racists who’ll never change.
Enter American Bridge, a prominent Democratic super PAC devoted to tracking Republican candidates and gathering opposition research.
The group is out with a dossier Monday entitled “Barriers to Reform: The anti-immigrant and extremist money blocking progress in the Senate.” The report singles out a handful of Republican senators for what it describes as “disturbing” anti-immigration rhetoric and notes donations they’ve received from individuals and foundations who have also funded border hawk groups like FAIR and NumbersUSA, among others.
So who’s on the list of these supposed “barriers to reform” with “troubling histories on the issue?” Every Republican who wrote the immigration bill…
The report, which comes as Republican members of the “Gang of 8” are garnering praise from their Democratic colleagues for shepherding legislation to this point, offers a preview of where the politics of immigration might be heading: Democrats aren’t going to let Republicans brand themselves as the party of immigration — and Latino voters — just because they finally changed their mind about blocking reform.
Good cop/bad cop. Schumer and Durbin spend Sunday mornings blathering about how they could have never gotten this far on immigration reform without Rubio, and meanwhile American Bridge puts together a 550-page oppo research book on him for Democratic use the second this amnesty sellout is over. At least, that’s what I thought was coming; evidently AB can’t bear to wait another month until the bill’s safely through Congress to get rolling. Could be that it’s a pressure tactic, likely in coordination with Democratic leaders, to try to keep Rubio and the other Republican “Gang” members in the fold if/when the long-awaited conservative backlash to the Gang’s bill....

Next minority up in the queue for the Progressives to destroy ... Hispanics. See what a great job destroying blacks that the Progressives did and even having them voting for more of the same. Hispanics will be next .... destroy the family, destroy their church, destroy their economic and work ethic, encourage abortion and there will be another set of Progressive drones.
Not trying to paint with too broad a brush, but Hispanics, by-and-large, like to work and support their families.
But it won’t make any difference to the Progressives. Blacks originally, pre-FDR. had the same positive traits, but were destroyed starting with FDR and secured by LBJ and the Great Society. The saddest thing is, these democrats sound just like Rubio’s Chief of Staff.

Birthright Citizenship and Abortion

As a pro-immigration conservative (yes, I know, we could fit in a phone booth), I am opposed to Sen. Lindsey Graham’s (R., S.C.) proposal to end birthright citizenship for babies who, through no fault of their own, are born in this country to illegal immigrants. Innocent children shouldn’t be held responsible for the sins of their parents.
In terms of why not amend the Constitution: The Fourteenth Amendment rejected the idea that someone could be a person but less than a person legally, as well as the idea that citizenship can be made dependent on race. It is of enormous symbolic importance. There is no data supporting the claim that significant numbers of women deliberately cross the border to give birth in the United States in order to take advantage of this provision.[AuntB: OMG, what a LIAR!]
Further, the Republican party would be committing political suicide if it were to endorse ending birthright citizenship, as it would cost the party Latino votes, which are crucial in Florida and in several Western states. It could also hurt the GOP’s prospects in the upcoming mid-term election by diverting attention from the Democrats’ record of over-spending, over-taxing, and exploding the national debt. Given inexorable demographic trends, the GOP could be rendered politically irrelevant, certainly at the presidential level, for generations.
But wearing my other hat as the co-chair of the Susan B. Anthony List’s executive committee (though speaking strictly for myself), my biggest fear is that Graham’s proposal, if enacted by constitutional amendment or by statute, will lead to more abortions: Undocumented immigrants with unplanned pregnancies might choose to have abortions instead of risking apprehension by the police or government immigration agents (not to mention possible deportation down the line) at the hospital maternity ward. Some women terminate their pregnancies for less serious and sometimes superficial reasons. It also might encourage women to have unsafe births outside of a hospital setting.

Senator Graham’s plan to end birthright citizenship is not only substantively and politically flawed, but it undermines a bedrock principle of modern conservatism — preserving the sanctity of life. Republicans and conservatives ought to think long and hard before embracing such a controversial proposal.

This Conda Con man just gets worse and worse....check this out about the Sotomayor nomination. And this guy was a domestic advisor to Romney..we HAVE to admit that Romney was BS’ing us about any kind of enforcement. If he was president today, he’d be pushing the same amnesty, and Conda would be working in the White House!
The RNC is NEVER going to give us better candidates. THEY LIKE THE RINOS!!! Sad fact.

Break With the Party, and Vote Yes

Senate Republicans should not vote along party lines against Judge Sotomayor’s nomination. There is nothing in her record or sworn testimony that disqualifies her for the Supreme Court, and certainly nothing that would justify a party-line “no” vote from Senate Republicans.
We need to fix the G.O.P.’s Hispanic problem, or we could find ourselves on the losing end of future presidential elections.
Those who opposed her nomination used a few speeches and cases to paint her as an extreme judicial activist. While Judge Sotomayor is not a strict constructionist, her views are well within the judicial mainstream; in fact, some of her rulings are considered too conservative by some liberal lobbying groups.
Granted, many Republicans are legitimately concerned about judicial activism and upholding the rule of law. But let’s face it, elections have consequences, and Republicans did not win the White House. Did anyone expect President Obama to nominate another John Roberts or Samuel Alito or even an Anthony Kennedy? The Senate should confirm the president’s judicial nominees, unless there is something in their views or record that disqualifies them.
On the question of wooing Hispanics, tone matters in politics, and a Republican party-line vote against Judge Sotomayor could send a message that Hispanics aren’t welcome in our party. A 2007 Almanac of Latino Politics poll found that more Hispanics than the electorate as whole identified themselves as conservatives. But we lost their vote in the 2008 presidential election by a more than 2 to 1 margin.
We need to fix our party’s Hispanic problem, or we could find ourselves on the losing end of presidential elections for the foreseeable future. A party-line, or near party-line, vote against the first Latina Supreme Court nominee won’t help the G.O.P.’s image among Hispanic voters.

When is the treatment of American citizens in Mexico and their rights vs US treatment of Mexicans going to be an issue when we discuss amnesty ?
This is a question: Should Mexican citizens when in the US be given the same rights American citizens are given while in Mexico? This has yet to appear on any US legislator’s questionaire from either chamber....ASK YOUR FEDERAL LEGISLATORS WHY IT HASN’T
What makes it necessary for US to subjugate our sovereignty because of available cheap labor ? While we encourage wholesale abortion as the Godless Demo-Coms socialists encourage population control. Then complain the US is not reproducing enough to replace its aging supply of workers to keep their welfare ponzie schemes supplied with tax money to keep the system working.
Ever hear of reciprocal aggrements ? These are arranged to protect the rights of American citizens working or living in other countries.
Why is it when it comes to citizens of other countries we are required to offer them the same privledges as we do to US citizens? But when it comes to US citizens who get in trouble or attempt to do business in other countries they do not get the same treatment their citizens get.
Americans can’t own coast land in Mexico. And get no title to it elsewhere. If they run out of cash they’ll get unceremoniously sent back or put in jail untill some relative comes up with the “fresh”. That’s just for starters as for granting them voting privledges yea let’s give Mexican citizens that right when American citizens vote in their elections .
