The Senates effective rejection of President Barack Obamas post-Newtown gun control bill robs the Democratic Party of an important tool for trying to regain a majority in the House in November 2014.
Are they serious? a visibly angry Obama demanded of opponents of the Toomey/Manchin Senate bill. In a late-afternoon announcement outside the White House, the president added that if Congress continues not to pass a gun control bill, the answer will have to come from the voters.
But without a Senate bill, theres little chance that vulnerable GOP House members in suburban swing-districts will face the unpleasant choice of either recording a public vote against what Obama repeatedly describes as common-sense measures to reduce gun violence and save lives or voting against gun rights supported by the National Rifle Association and many Americans.
The wedge issue was highlighted this morning by Obamas 2012 strategic advisor, David Axelrod.
A bunch of suburban, swing district Republicans in House are probably deeply relieved that Senate appears poised to kill background checks, Axelrod said in a morning tweet.
Interested to see if [Mayor Mike] Bloomberg and others whove worked hard on this issue remain active in 2014 elections, holding no votes accountable, Axelrod added at 9.43 a.m. EST.....

I’m just all tore up about this.
Let all of US make certain that this EPIC FAIL is the first in a series of FAILURES for The Stain.
Remember, when The Stain “wins”, America Fails.
Feel the burn, comrade. May you feel the same way when your pal McCain’s amnesty crap fails.
All who voted in favor need to get the heave ho just like last time.
I guess Plan B will be Executive Order.
“All who voted in favor need to get the heave ho just like last time.”
All who even THOUGHT of supporting this should get the heave-ho—those that took incoming calls from Bath-House, those (Chambliss, Isakson-GA-my congresscritters) who didn’t support the filibuster, who wanted to “debate” the issue, should get the heave-ho.
Throw ALL the bums out—and sanitize DC.
We need new REAL Americans in Congress.
Agreed—Bath-House was too damned PO’d NOT to find a way of getting revenge eventually.
Hold your children close for the next few months. Anyone who could support killing infants in or out of the womb will exact his revenge just to try and prove his gun-grabbing to be “correct”.
The Pres sure got all wee wee’d up at the press conference!
I hope that this defeat drives DiFi over the edge into mental incompetence as she has been under a great pressure in the past two months.
Mongol General: Hao! Dai ye! We won again! This is good, but what is best in life?
Mongol: The open steppe, fleet horse, falcons at your wrist, and the wind in your hair.
Mongol General: Wrong! Conan! What is best in life?
Conan: To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women.
Mongol General: That is good! That is good.
The American people finally gave the Kenyan a “wedgie” for once. I got tired of watching that moron win all the time.
I expect nobama is VERY upset about this. He needs this really, really bad in order to implement his plan. Which will be very hard for him to do if we still have our guns.
Likewise nobamacare. Another sector of the economy he needs to own for his plan to work. nobamacare will collapse under it’s own weight. That has been the plan all along. The collapse opens the door to single payer which is nobama’s ultimate goal.
But I suspect when nobamacare collapses there will be calls for all sorts of plans besides single payer. We’ll have to see where that goes.
How DARE they defy their Emperor???/s;)

Yeah not so much- the fact that they even got htsi unconstitutional bill to the floor for a vote thanks to traitorous republicans was a victory for them- You heard him tonight- he said thsi was only just the beginning- that htis was NOT over- and he meant it- they will now keep brinign UNCONSTITUTIONAL bilsl to the floor to vote knowign that eventually they will get the traitors o nthe right to go all the way and vote the bills in- the fact that the right did NOT stand up to the left o nthsi by REFUSING to allow this UNCONSTITUTIONAL bill to go to the floor was a victory for the left- even htough they lost THIS TIME
Well, all righty then. It's going to.
losing this issue means they will make an issue to slam GOPers with
This is the first sign that Obama has lost his Mojo! He is heading for a crushing defeat in 2014. The Democrats are heading for a disaster in the mid-term election. They will lose. The Senate, governorships, state houses, lose more seats in the House. Obama will gut the Party the way Jimmy Carter did. People(save for the few fanatic followers) have lost interest in the “historic” black President. The Ricin dude —a leftist Democrat is a good example. He over played his hand and showed his incompetence. Hillary was wise to leave the ship before it started taking on water. Watch the scandals start to come out—by summer —Obama will be a stale joke (he already is to the right) In time Piers Morgan will be better thought of than the President.
The 2nd Amendment is a “wedge issue”? How can the Constitution be a wedge issue? Am I still living in America?
Behold the long awaited overreach by the all too confident fool in the White House.
Actually, his loss on the sequester was a big sign. And that was after him barnstorming the country with major demogoguery.
Then last week he produced a budget with NO support from either left or right.
Obama's political capital is fast slipping through his fingers.
There's a good chance Hillary won't be exempt from any coming storms.
Benghazi whistleblowers are talking.
Holder’s law firm was not based in Chicago, but rather was Covington & Burling, which was once the largest firm in DC (now they are #2 behind Hogan Lovells). Covington has the entire building at 1201 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW. You could call it a liberal cesspool, but that would be unfair to cesspools.
That's funny, I've never seen Gun Lobby on any ballot before. If Obama is going to "freeze and personalize the enemy" as dictated by his Alinski mantra, isn't he going to have to find an enemy that someone recognizes?
I wanted this Bill to be defeated because it would be completly ineffective in stopping a repeat of Aurora or Newtown. But it begs the question, is there any practical way of stopping a person from committing such an act without infringing on the rights of lawful gun owners? I have thought this over and over and I really can’t come up with any satisfactory answer. Perhaps it comes down to one of two solutions. Either take everyone’s gun away (not very likely to happen) have guns everywhere. Allow lawful gun owners to carry their guns everywhere. So long as we have areas, such as schools, where no guns are allowed, then that is where a person bent on taking as many lives as they can are going to go. I would like to see as many gun free zones as possible, removed.
