Well, not officially. When asked, he’ll give the response that Nelson Rockefeller gave about supporting Barry Goldwater: “I’m a Republican.”
I wasn’t with Rocky in the voting booth, but I’m as certain as I can be that he voted for Lyndon Johnson. Similarly, I’m pretty sure the RINOs would privately support Hillary.
The establishment would attack Rand Paul ferociously if he ran. Any presidential candidate with anything approaching "classical liberal" or "libertarian" political beliefs would represent a monumental threat to the Tyrannical authoritarian and/or collectivist mindset which dominates both national parties in DC.
I, for one, would love to see anything like a, shall we say, "classical liberal" candidacy...
