Disgusted and fed up like the rest of us, Sarah Palin rips members of the Republican Party a new one over their support for the so-called “Marketplace Fairness Act” a sales tax on internet purchases.
More new taxes?
How can we be divided on new taxes? In this horribly weak economy with an over-reaching, over-spending, anti-small-business government continually making the wrong decisions, Republicans can’t even stay committed to “No New Taxes”?
Please step away from your Washington, DC bubble and get back in touch with the hard working people who sent you there. Read the planks in our party’s platform and then read our lips. Learn from history or face repeating it: NO NEW TAXES.

If passed, this new tax will hurt small businesses who do business online the most, as they will be required to keep up with the laws of nearly ten thousand taxing jurisdictions, and remit taxes to each one their customers live in. It will cause many to fold up shop, as they will no longer be profitable.
It should be noted that Wal-Mart, which has a sizable online business, supports this tax 100 percent. Of course, unlike most online retailers, Wal-Mart also has brick and mortar businesses in almost every state. [and thus already collects sales taxes and has the resources to handle this]
Brick and mortar retailers like Wal-Mart claim they are at a disadvantage to internet only retailers, who do not collect sales taxes, unless product is shipped inside the state they have a physical presence....

How about if Sarah states here position BEFORE the vote.
The (Republican) clowns in the Senate have NO IDEA how to vote on things like this, and they will default to big government without some guidance.
Agree 100%. Why vote Republican when they support homosexual marriage, amnesty for illegals, and increasing taxes. Now McCain and Graham want to intervene on the wrong side in Syria, the side that murders Christians. I never would say this before....at least the Democrats let you know where they stand, the Republicans no longer do. Third party anyone?
Is this a new tax or just a method of collecting the tax that most are supposed to be paying don’t.

They formed together and made the Streamlined Sales and Use Tax Agreement (SSUTA), also known as the Streamlined Sales Tax Project (SSTP). As of 2005, there were 44 states that participated in SSTP. ******

Both my senators voted for it, even after I wrote a couple letters requesting they not. I gave them real life reasons it was bad. In response I got a form letter explaining from one why they support it, but it was the left’s talking points! Way to go, RINOS!
Those who think this bill will go down in flames in the House of Representatives completely underestimate the Obama ballsack-licking complete incompetence of House Speaker John Boehner.
So I'll go on record right here, right now: If the House of Representatives passes this bill, I will *never* vote Republican again. Period. I'll vote whatever third-party there is on the ballot whether it be Green Party, Constitution Party, Tea Party, whatever ... who knows -- may as well vote for the damn' Communist Party because at least they're HONEST about what they want to transform the country into!

From the vote it's pretty easy to see which Senate Pubbies get big donations from large corporations and those who favor small business.

The Representatives are under a tremendous amount of pressure from their home states to pass this bill. They want their sales taxes.

I was under the impression that each state could pass legislation requiring that internet sales be taxed. I often see it on different sites...”If ordering in blah-blah-blah state(s) please add sales tax.
In addition..not all states have sales tax. I don’t get it.

Much of the problem is that the conservative vote gets split in the primary and the moderate gets the nomination; to loose the the hard core leftist! Will we ever learn?
Since Rob Portman’s son came out of the closet, so has Rob. The supposedly conservative Senator now supports Gay Marriage, raising taxes, and admits he did inhale.
Who knows where all this legislation will wind up. But many states have been trying to find ways to collect tax on purchases made by their residents made via the internet. In prior decisions regarding mail-order sales, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in 1992 (in the case of Quill Corp. v. North Dakota, 504 U.S. 298) that mail-order retailers were not compelled to collect use tax and remit the tax to states, in part because of the complexities of doing so.
There is a web site now where you can enter your zip code and amount of purchase and it will calculate the tax for your area. See link;
