Democratic strategist: Party 'in decline'
The Politico ^ | May 10, 2013 | James S. Hohmann

One of the Democrats’ most veteran strategists warns that the party is “in decline” and “at considerable risk” when President Barack Obama is no longer on the scene.

“Since Obama was elected President, the Democrats have lost nine governorships, 56 members of the House and two Senate seats,” Doug Sosnik, the political director in Bill Clinton’s White House, writes in a new memo.

While Republican branding problems get the lion’s share of attention, the Democratic Party’s favorability rating has declined by 15 points since Obama took power. A Pew Research Center survey this January showed that the Democratic Party was viewed favorably by 47 percent of Americans, down from 62 percent in Jan. 2009.

With the likelihood of gridlock and near-record-low confidence in public institutions, Sosnik expects 2014 to bring the fourth change election in the past eight years....

Well, the Rat party may be in decline, but at least they’ve taken the country down with them. So it’s not a total loss, from their perspective.

How can it be in decline? So many GOP pols are joining them this guy’s numbers are skewed. The D’s may be down in number but the liberalization of the Rs made up for it and more.

Romney was a big mistake.

We need to go the other direction next time.

McCain. Romney: all were quite liberal Republicans.

We need to move right.

We should be focusing on cities. Cities run by democrats for decades are wastelands ripe for republicans with a message of good government. New York under Guiliani was a Renaissance city compared to Detroit. Cities will be under a lot of pressure for bad choices in the past with extravagant pensions to city employees. We can pick up more cities than in a generation

Yeah right!
The Republican Party isn’t in such hot shape.
We need a rebirth.

Party identification has been declining for both parties for a considerable time. The “block” voter who votes the straight GOP or Dem ticket has been on the wane for awhile now.

But the Democrats need not worry. They have been ratcheting up their vote fraud apparatus for many years now with same-day registration, vote-by-mail, failure to purge voter roles, encouraging felons, illegals and the mentally ill to vote or have a Dem operative vote for them, etc.

I have no doubts the Dem party will survive Obama as strong as ever because the Dems know you don’t need a real living, breathing, thinking voter to vote for them as long as the Dems control who counts the votes.

What difference does it make?

They will just find more dead voters and steal more elections.

Please read my tagline. Pubbies are collectivists at heart, too, and are doing their best to prop up their buddy Dems.

Collectivism has been a sinking ship for a number of decades. I expect to see both Leftist parties disappear in the not too distand future.

A few months ago it was the Republican Party which was on the verge of disappearing.

If Hillary is seriously tainted by Benghazi-gate, or for some other reason is not a viable nominee in 2016, whom do the 'Rats have to offer? Michelle Obama? Joe Biden? Cuomo? Fauxcahontas? They don't have a very strong bench--the primaries could be another case of "the Seven Dwarfs" (except that the MSM would try to turn the survivor into a combination of FDR and JFK).

It’s good to see the GOP doing well in state and local, but the GOPe is doing everything possible to keep the Democrats in power.

Exactly. It’s the government that’s in decline. Both parties are hopelessly and irrevocably obselete.
