Top Romney Strategist: Hillary Clinton Will Lose A Democratic Primary

The top advisor to last year’s Republican nominee predicted Wednesday that if Hillary Clinton runs for president in 2016, she will lose in a Democratic primary.

Clinton is widely thought to be the strongest 2016 presidential contender in either party, with high approval ratings and early poll numbers that show her beating top Republicans like Sen. Marco Rubio in their home states.

But Stu Stevens, the senior advisor to Mitt Romney’s failed presidential bid, told reporters at a breakfast sponsored by National Review that Clinton wouldn’t survive a Democratic primary.

“I would predict that if Hillary Clinton runs, she’ll lose the primary,” he said.

Asked what Democratic candidate might beat her, Stevens tossed out just one name: John Hickenlooper, the moderate governor of Colorado who is thought to be considering a bid, despite having little to no name recognition at the national level.

“She’s been around since the ’70s,” said Stevens, adding that Clinton may very well end up running against a Republican many years her junior. “It’s very rare that we go back a generation. And you know, unless we nominate Bob Dole, we won’t be going back a generation.”

“If I was a Democratic hot-shot politician, I would primary her so fast,” he added....

I’m rather surprised that ANYONE connected with the Romney campaign would share a prognostication about anything. No embarrassment there, eh, Stu?

I think he is right.

Obama has shifted the Democrat Primary voter even further to the left. She is not radical enough for them. Plus she is already too old and too white, and by 2016 will be surely Not-Ready-For-HDTV.

Going forward that party is also going to have difficulty nominating anyone who is not a minority IMO.

Yep.. If not Hillary, I wonder if Antonio Villariagosa will ascend to the throne... Julian Castro might be a bit young still. That certainly will hasten the Southwest’s anchluss with Mexico.

Exactly. If Hillary wants the nomination, she will get it easily and then win the Presidency in a landslide. Obama’s reelection proved that we have reached a tipping point politically. The Dems are now the permanent majority party nationally.

I completely agree with you that the demographic tipping point has now been passed. Republicans will be lucky to see the White House again.

Didn't she step down as SoS due to a brain clot?
Now I'm no Dr but that "sounds serious".
Wouldn't a potential opponent bring this up in reference to her fitness to do the job?
I mean if she can't handle SoS because of "health issues", why would POTUS be any easier?

Then again the current occupant of the worlds costliest public housing has proven
all you need to do is golf and fund raise to be a successful liberal president.

Repubs will see the White House... if invited.

But, barring a miracle, future presidential elections will be decided in the democrat primary. The Repubs will be best served concentrating on congressional and gubernatorial they can still win.
