Tea Party Rage: Nothing Fails Like Excess
RealClearPolitics ^ | May 21, 2013 | Froma Harrop

Posted on 05/20/2013 9:03:40 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Back in their day, the tea party folks were riding high, fueling indignation over alleged government-run death panels, a treasonous Federal Reserve and the like. They commandeered sparsely attended Republican primaries, managing to nominate for Senate seats a dabbler in witchcraft in Delaware, holders of strange views on rape in Missouri and Indiana, and in Nevada, a candidate suggesting armed insurrection if her people didn't win elections.

All lost -- some in races an old-fashioned Republican would have won. In the interest of party self-preservation, Republican leaders sidelined the more extreme tea partiers, or tried to. Meanwhile, the tea party's approval ratings among the wider electorate crumbled.

Then came the scandal over the IRS's focus on groups bearing tea party-type names. Finally, the demoted warriors had a real thing to be furious over. That President Obama expressed his own anger, saw the IRS commissioner replaced and supports an investigation made little impression. Last weekend, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal called for IRS officials responsible for this targeting to be put in jail.

Some say that by not more closely monitoring America's tax collecting agency, President Obama handed the Republican Party a big present. Just the appearance of political motive in subjecting a group to extra scrutiny is bad, and this had the appearance.

But unfortunately for the wiser Republicans, the beautifully wrapped present is a boomerang. Give the tea party people a boomerang, and moderate Republicans will get hurt. The first injuries are already being reported.....

It’s easy to say that your opponents are bad when you’re completely rigging the game against them.

Common parochial leftspeak. She needs to get out of her corner Manhattan office and see the other 99.99% of the country.

Even Krauthammer is cautioning against pushing the Obama scandals too strongly. I say BS to that. The left never pulls punches, and neither should we, ever. Look at what happened to Romney and McCain.

Give the tea party people a boomerang, and moderate Republicans will get hurt.

I'm good with that. I want conservatives.

“Porrah Amorf”

If you can trick her into saying her name backwards, she disappears into the fourth dimension.

I hope she’s right - for in that case Dumb’O should crash and burn any minute now.

Liberals like Ms Harrop obviously care deeply about conservatives and want to help us win elections.

Complete fu*#wit. Fails to mention how the Tea Party (again!) saved America by giving us a supermajority GOP House so we could stop Barbie O'Bunghole and his totalitarian agenda dead in their tracks.

Minutiae, really. I'm probably just nitpicking, right?

The tea party people were inexperienced and didn’t know the PC Jargon. They were hit when they said things that could be used to tar them (Like the lady who dabbled in Wiccan ideas in high School—she should not have said it —but she did) their lack of experience in the field (like Sarah Palin’s in her early VP run) were easy targets of the left. Their principles and purity were not understood or liked by the Vichy GOP who lived to get along and hold the power and wealth. They wanted to be liked by the MSM and the Social club of Washington DC. They tried to use the Tea Party to get votes—then rule as they always did. The Tea Party didn’t play that game. They were and are Patriots and reformers. that is why they must be “cut down to size”—you can see this with Rand Paul and Ted Cruz today. They can’t be real Americans or real Republicans! Time for some changing! Look at the Brits with UKIP—Look at the NRA, look at the Scandals—Every thing the Tea Parties said has come to pass. Look at Glen Beck. Where is he at now? Oklahoma helping with the disaster! The tea party is re—forming and will strike back!

From the comments section I don’t think readers are buying it.

The tone is changing. I typically go read at least the first few comments of these articles, and people at least appear to be waking up, at least in WaPo and NYT.

Hummm interesting
Real Clear Politics is doing RINO GOPE hit pieces on Tea Party from a frump.

The RCP publisher has a Sunday talkie on Chicago’s WLS (am 890 50K watts) who preceeded Cunningham’s 9 pm Sunday yakaty yak. Since WLS dropped Cunninghambone don’t go to either. Actually I prefer Bachelor who’s on WABC and am 810 out of Texas in that time slot when either signal comes in. Not set up to do plug in’s .
