Poll: Republicans like George Zimmerman more than President Obama. Independents not far behind
The Miami Herald's Naked Politics Blog ^ | July 24, 2013 | Marc A. Caputo

Fox News just released a nationwide poll in generall in keeping with many others, finding voters are unhappy with the economy and want Obamacare repealed.

But what's truly eye-opening are the comparisons of partisan opinions of President Barack Obama and George Zimmerman, who was acquitted July 13 of second-degree murder and manslaughter charges for shooting unarmed Miami Gardens 17-year-old Trayvon Martin on Feb. 26, 2012.

Republicans have a more-favorable opinion of Zimmerman, a figure of sympathy to a number of conservatives, than Obama. That's right: The Democratic occupant of the White House is held in less favorable regard by Republicans than the guy who shot an unarmed teenager and successfully pleaded self-defense.

Specifically: Republicans are two-and-a-half times more-likely to have a favorable opinion of Zimmerman than Obama. And they're almost three-times more likely to have an unfavorable opinion of Obama than Zimmerman.

Republicans, with independents siding more with them, also agree with the verdict more than Democrats (who disagree with it). There's also a clear racial divide......

If I had a five dollar bill for every time I've read "unarmed" in describing Traydmark, I could've bought a decent car some time ago.

Since Zimmerman still supports Obama 100%, why the big difference?

No spin there.

How about “the guy who successfully defended himself from an attack by a large thug” as the more proper description?

I hadn’t heard or read that Zimmerman was tried on a manslaughter charge.

So you’re completely in lockstep with your brothers and sisters? I’m not. I didn’t see the name “George Zimmerman” there.

I like Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton more than Mr. Obama, this isn’t a high bar.

It was a lesser included charge. They also tried to tack on 3rd degree murder-child abuse in there.

Well, Robert was picked by George and the family to represent them. I assume George can figure out for himself who he wants to represent him, and this is the guy he picked, so I feel, unless there's evidence otherwise, that Robert is 100% the spokesman for George. That's what George wanted.

Moreover, do you have any evidence that George Zimmerman doesn't agree with him, or is critical of him in any way? (Other than you don't think he should be?)

Sheesh, he's SURPRISED? What a moron, this is a no-brainer: one is a destroying our country and trying to quash our spirits & will; the other steps forward to help form a neighborhood watch group, work in his neighborhood, & rescue people from a burning car.

I agree. It’s sickening. Notice they never include “teen who was bashing Zimmerman’s head on the sidewalk”.
