Skip to comments.PPP poll: Palin leads Alaska Republican Senate primary by 10 points

Gotta figure her lead would be even bigger without Joe Miller in the field here.
Her nomination for the taking?
Alaska should be a top tier pick up opportunity for Senate Republicans next year but their top choice of a candidate is Sarah Palin. 36% of GOP primary voters in the state say theyd like Palin to be their standard bearer against Mark Begich to 26% for Mead Treadwell, 15% for Dan Sullivan, and 12% for Joe Miller. Palin leads mostly based on her strength with very conservative voters where she gets 43% to 20% for Treadwell, but she also leads him 28/25 with moderates.
The problem for Republicans with a Palin candidacy is that even though she is in good standing with the party base, voters overall dont like her at all. She has a 39/58 favorability rating, including 33/64 with key independent voters. Theres a lot of division about how strong her ties to the state even are anymore- only 47% of voters consider her to still be an Alaskan while 46% dont, and 37% of voters in the state think it would be more appropriate for her to run for the Senate from Arizona to 41% who say Alaska.
It all adds up to a 52/40 lead for Begich in a hypothetical match up with Palin. He leads by 21 points with independents, 56/35, and takes 20% of the Republican vote. Its a slight improvement for Palin from February when we found her trailing Begich 54/38, but shes very much in a hole.
Assuming half of Millers supporters would break for her if he dropped out, shes above 40 percent without having run a single ad yet.....

This guy only beat Ted Stevens by one point, with Stevens under a dark cloud of ethics investigations, AND Begich having a brother who is a conspiracy moonbeam wacko.
Will she or won’t she?
Palin is a great campaigner. She’d change that race within days if she ran.
Considering more than a few folk I casually talked with were not crazy about her,, most of them seemed relatively ‘normal’ , some had more personal gripes, tourism rules.. sometimes things go awry, not sure why gubinors get the whack while state residents are pocketing good money off the state’s resources..
It’s hers if she wants it. The MSM has thrown everything, including the
kitchen sink at her for the last 5 years. And she is still strong nationally
and locally, as well.
Good for her. She is fine and would be a great conservative in the senate. Woman has never done a thing wrong that I’m aware of.
When they throw the sink, she turns on the garbage disposal and tosses it back...
That part of the article is pure garbage. Governor Sarah Palin is a strong, committed Christian Conservative. Her popularity is much like that of Presidemt Ronald Reagan's, the most beloved president of the 20th Century.
She would make an outstanding Senator but God has far bigger plans in store for Governor Palin. America needs her in the White House to restore traditional values and greatness.
Waste of time. She won't run. Can't afford the pay cut. One of one hundred nowhere as good as one of one. Too bad...she would light a fire under a lot of dumb asses.
Is she running?
IMHO she should and then run for President in 2020
I wouldn’t trust PPP under any circumstances. It is wholly owned and operated by the Democrat party.
I’d vote for Joe even if she did run. I like that Joe has an exceptional record. I like them both, but I’d prefer to see Joe win for once after having his win stolen from him.
Has she declared her candidacy?
The 2010 Republican Congressional landslide would not have happened without Sarah Palin’s help.
So, if she can focus on repeating those results in 2014 it would be wonderful for the Republicans, particularly Conservatives.
As far as her own political ambitions are concerned, it would be best for her if she waited until the anti-Palin mainstream media has completed its inevitable collapse.
Sarah’s 2008 nemesis, Katie Couric, is already out of the picture; CNN and MSNBC continue their slides into oblivion; and other MSM stalwarts like the New York Times can’t stop losing revenues and subscribers as long as the stagnant-to-dying Obama economy is in place.
Sarah’s day will come, but in the meantime, a Sarah-inspired repeat of 2010 would be a blessing for all good Americans.
This seat is essential to take the senate.
RE: Has she declared her candidacy?
The above question seems to imply that if she DID declare her candidacy, her numbers will improve among both Republicans and Independents. What makes you think this will happen?
Alaska is the state that REFUSED to vote for a true conservative candidate ( the official one ) and chose the WRITE-IN RINO candidate, who has a 50% rating from NARAL and endorses gay marriage.
Ping to Sarah's Awesome List!
Sorry for the late ping, long day at work.
Anyone got the polls back in 2006?
Gotta luv the agitprop from some folks......typical.
But he has 20% of the vote from RINOs, GOPes and Palin haters. If she wants the Senate seat, it’s hers for the taking.
And for the NSA trolls, FU.
Has she even mentioned running or is this the same hopeful splash we’ve seen people beat at before?
If she hasn’t said she’s running then I’m not buying all the wishful thinking...and certainly not going to belly up to the bar until she does.
And further I’m not going to go thru the Sarah tease again if or not she is. I learned from that game and not playing. I won’t waste money again...
Bull, conservatives love Sarah Palin liberals are scared to death of Sarah and if she ran for Senate she would get it.I can't wait until November and we can get rid of the dead beats in Washington..I know I can't vote for her but I can pray real hard she will win if she runs..
PPP is a liberal polling org. they are so scared of Palin running for president to challenge their Hillary that they want to at least get her stuck in the Senate
PPP trying to get sarah to run for Senate so she Doesn’t run for president. obvious
I’d say maybe she if she won a Senate seat, she could then run for President in another two years. But I don’t know if that would work. The slimers have already gone with the meme that she “quit” the governorship—even though she didn’t do so until she had a solid guy to replace her, and in the face of endless fake lawsuits that were bleeding her and her family dry. But I don’t think she could afford to use the Senate seat as a stepping stone after all that.
And we don’t really need her as one more Senator. We really, really need her in the White House, difficult as that may be to achieve. But it could be done if only we could get all the conservative factions to work together.
Otherwise, it’s RINO time again. Jeb Bush and Co. Not much good that Sarah could do as a Senator under yet another bush.
Don’t bite on this Sarah! They only want you out of the way. They want you to focus on the senate seat and not paying attention to them. Yes “them” and you know who you are. Can say Dems anymore because its not just the libs after you.
Sarah, I like your sweat shirt. Where can we get one, two, three?????
Numbers get radically “adjusted” on those final polls, because the polling outfits know that their reputation will be measured by the accuracy of that final poll.
In the meanwhile, expect the usual push-polling which shows the more liberal candidate(s) in every primary and general matchup to be ahead, typically significantly ahead. The polling firms know they can do this without consequence, so long as they make a concerted effort to be accurate on the last poll before voting.
There's a reason Rasmussen's numbers tend to chart in straight lines, whereas other polling firms see radical closure during the final days of an election. He tries to be accurate during the entire cycle, whereas most of the others try to shape public opinion until Election Day(CNN, NBC, NYT, CBS, Post, PPP.......).
