PPP poll: Palin leads Alaska Republican Senate primary by 10 points

Gotta figure her lead would be even bigger without Joe Miller in the field here.

Her nomination for the taking?

Alaska should be a top tier pick up opportunity for Senate Republicans next year…but their top choice of a candidate is Sarah Palin. 36% of GOP primary voters in the state say they’d like Palin to be their standard bearer against Mark Begich to 26% for Mead Treadwell, 15% for Dan Sullivan, and 12% for Joe Miller. Palin leads mostly based on her strength with ‘very conservative’ voters where she gets 43% to 20% for Treadwell, but she also leads him 28/25 with moderates.

The problem for Republicans with a Palin candidacy is that even though she is in good standing with the party base, voters overall don’t like her at all. She has a 39/58 favorability rating, including 33/64 with key independent voters. There’s a lot of division about how strong her ties to the state even are anymore- only 47% of voters consider her to still be an Alaskan while 46% don’t, and 37% of voters in the state think it would be more appropriate for her to run for the Senate from Arizona to 41% who say Alaska.

It all adds up to a 52/40 lead for Begich in a hypothetical match up with Palin. He leads by 21 points with independents, 56/35, and takes 20% of the Republican vote. It’s a slight improvement for Palin from February when we found her trailing Begich 54/38, but she’s very much in a hole.

Assuming half of Miller’s supporters would break for her if he dropped out, she’s above 40 percent without having run a single ad yet.....

Duh! Mark Begich hasn't had five years of 24/7 criticism leveled at him by the national media, Hollywood, pundits, nutroots, cable TV, late-night talk shows, the music industry, race-baiters, foreign press, academia, RINOs, DNC, Obama White House, Greens, Romney staffers and PETA.

This guy only beat Ted Stevens by one point, with Stevens under a dark cloud of ethics investigations, AND Begich having a brother who is a conspiracy moonbeam wacko.

Palin is a great campaigner. She’d change that race within days if she ran.

Considering more than a few folk I casually talked with were not crazy about her,, most of them seemed relatively ‘normal’ , some had more personal gripes, tourism rules.. sometimes things go awry, not sure why gubinors get the whack while state residents are pocketing good money off the state’s resources..

It’s hers if she wants it. The MSM has thrown everything, including the
kitchen sink at her for the last 5 years. And she is still strong nationally
and locally, as well.

Good for her. She is fine and would be a great conservative in the senate. Woman has never done a thing wrong that I’m aware of.

When they throw the sink, she turns on the garbage disposal and tosses it back...

That part of the article is pure garbage. Governor Sarah Palin is a strong, committed Christian Conservative. Her popularity is much like that of Presidemt Ronald Reagan's, the most beloved president of the 20th Century.

She would make an outstanding Senator but God has far bigger plans in store for Governor Palin. America needs her in the White House to restore traditional values and greatness.

Waste of time. She won't run. Can't afford the pay cut. One of one hundred nowhere as good as one of one. Too bad...she would light a fire under a lot of dumb asses.

I wouldn’t trust PPP under any circumstances. It is wholly owned and operated by the Democrat party.

I’d vote for Joe even if she did run. I like that Joe has an exceptional record. I like them both, but I’d prefer to see Joe win for once after having his win stolen from him.

Yes, but this chart:

Shows that the Democrat has MORE support from his own party than Sarah Palin has from hers...

It also shows that Palin is WAY BEHIND among Independents. This despite the huge name recognition.

It's not looking good to me.

The 2010 Republican Congressional landslide would not have happened without Sarah Palin’s help.

So, if she can focus on repeating those results in 2014 it would be wonderful for the Republicans, particularly Conservatives.

As far as her own political ambitions are concerned, it would be best for her if she waited until the anti-Palin mainstream media has completed its inevitable collapse.

Sarah’s 2008 nemesis, Katie Couric, is already out of the picture; CNN and MSNBC continue their slides into oblivion; and other MSM stalwarts like the New York Times can’t stop losing revenues and subscribers as long as the stagnant-to-dying Obama economy is in place.

Sarah’s day will come, but in the meantime, a Sarah-inspired repeat of 2010 would be a blessing for all good Americans.

RE: Has she declared her candidacy?

The above question seems to imply that if she DID declare her candidacy, her numbers will improve among both Republicans and Independents. What makes you think this will happen?

Alaska is the state that REFUSED to vote for a true conservative candidate ( the official one ) and chose the WRITE-IN RINO candidate, who has a 50% rating from NARAL and endorses gay marriage.
