Allahpundit asked an interesting exit question at the end of his post on John McCains possible retirement:
Exit question for righties who think a McCain endorsement of Hillary over Paul would mean nothing to anyone: You sure?
Actually, yeah, Im pretty sure it wont mean anything, but not because of McCains relative draw within the GOP or with independents. I just dont think endorsements at this level have any impact on the fortunes of candidates with near-total saturation with voters already. Endorsements matter for obscure candidates, perhaps especially in local elections, but also in House and Senate races for newcomers. A well-placed endorsement will allow those candidates to become defined by their associations until they can establish their own identities.
On the presidential level, though, the endorsements are much more about the endorser than the candidate. People already know Hillary Clinton perhaps too much at this stage. They dont need John McCains endorsement to unravel the mystery for them. The same will be true for all of the realistic front-runners for the party nominations in 2016, too. Endorsements are a way to assign political figures to a team and to raise money, but very few people will back Scott Walker or Mike Pence (to use other potential examples) because a Senator from either party lines up with them.
McCain’s endorsement would sway both Tutankhamun and Methusula into changing their votes for Hitlery.
Actually, McCain’s endorsement WOULD affect me: I’d be LESS likely to vote for someone McCain endorsed.
This is an extortion ploy. “Hillary, unless you send me $100,000 in small unmarked bills, I will endorse you.”
It would be great if McCain endorsed Hillary, since they’re both obnoxious voter repellants. People dislike both of them.
But which one does McCain think is the finest car ever built, the AMC Gremlin, or the Ford Pinto?
Clearly one of those two must be chosen.
Great. Now that Paul Shanklin song is playing in my head.
McAlqueda has no credibility left. He’s a demented troll.
He would endorse the woman who left our men behind and then lied about it? Shame on him.
Why not? He abandoned the POWs and MIAs.
While station surfing on my way home from work the week, I thought I heard that there is a petition for a recall election aimed at McCain? Does anyone know about this, or was I just mentally shifting the Colorado recall to Arizona?
Any time Hillary is mentioned, please add Benghazi to her name. We do want to give her the credit that she has earned.
McCain’s Political history is just that...HISTORY, AS IN THE PAST...
He is aged to perfection and well done at this point...
I give a rats a$$ what he plans on doing..as for Hilary she is looking old and tired...
That would help Rand.
Hillary Benghazi Clinton
Benghazi H Rodham Clinton
Mrs. Benghazi H Clinton
What difference does it make? (sarc)
He doesn’t get it. If it weren’t for Sarah Palin McCrap would have gotten 30%
You and just about everyone else. How's McCain's endorsement of Obama's plans to bomb Syria working for Obama?
The “old son-of-a-b!tch” (as he’s known affectionately around my house) has never been a maverick. He’s a renegade.
Bogus story. Paul wont get the nom.
Hell, I am not surprised, didn’t he support Obama over McCain in 2008?
Benghazi Hitlery would seem appropriate as well.
Thank you. Benghazi Hitlery is a perfect name for her
