The RNC’s “Growth and Opportunity Project,” released in March, .... 14 recommendations intended to attract young voters, including forming a “celebrity task force,” empowering younger voices in digital issues, having Republicans appear more frequently on previously ignored media outlets, and making the party more welcoming.
The (College Republican National Committee)'s report, released in June, focused exclusively on young voters and was scathing in its assessment of how negatively young voters saw the Republican Party. Most salient among its findings were the feedback from focus groups composed of potential Republican voters. In addition to noting that they didn’t expect the GOP to reach out to them, participants described the party as “closed-minded, racist, rigid” and “old-fashioned.”

And they will have trouble finding full time jobs and receiving sticker shock from increased health care costs.

The Millennials are a massive cohort. Baby boomers are dying off and Gen X is half the size of the Millennials. The GOP better figure out how to appeal to them or they will be swamped for years.
According to the article, the mid-term spread (21-point advantage Dems) is the more favorable for GOP.

I think someone like Ted Cruz can easily appeal to the college set. It will take some dedication to winning them over. More than just one campus visit. He’s prett relentless. I think he can do it.
Reading this excerpt capturing the younger voters means moving left. Romney wasn’t moderate enough for them.
Never mind the fact that Congressman Byrd, who was a card carrying KKK member, was a Democrat. I remember being young and assuming there was only one side to every story.

The Democrats have successfully (and absurdly) convinced young people they are the more libertarian-minded party. They have gotten away with it because so many Republicans look and talk like Disciplinarian Dad, straight from central casting.
The challenge for Republicans will be to publicly draw the link between Democrat "free stuff for all/be kind to the poor/minorities are victims" policies and the inevitable fascist outcomes of those policies. They have to show that free ObamaCare for cancer victim Ben is paid for at the point of a government gun shoved in barista Suzy's face. They have to demonstrate to the feel-good kids how supporting "Justice for Trayvon" means their little cousin Jane will soon be headed to the hospital with facial fractures because Trayvon's peers, emboldened by the rhetoric of the race-baiters, now enjoy the occasional evening round of "Knockout King". They have to explain how immoral it is to expand government programs using money our unborn great-grandchildren haven't earned yet.
In short, to appeal to a younger generation that naturally sees themselves as outsiders, Republicans are going to have to say things that piss off insiders. It's still a tall order due to the peerless work on behalf of International Socialism done by our public education establishment over the last 40 years, but it isn't going to get any easier five years from now.
