Jon Stewart waded into the civil war currently engulfing the Republican Party that is pitting members of the political establishment against the Tea Party.
On Tuesdays edition of The Daily Show, Stewart noted that many enlistees in the GOPs old guard are responsible for unleashing a right-wing agenda that culminated in the shutdown of the federal government this month and brought the country to the brink of default.
The party wanted to absorb the Tea Party energy, to swallow and digest the Tea Partys enthusiasm and passion, so long as the Tea Party promised not to burst through their chests and replicate, Stewart said.
In particular, Stewart cited Karl Rove, the architect of former President George W. Bushs successful White House bids, as helping to organize many of the forces that he now opposes. Rove has launched a super-PAC that he says will try to field more mainstream candidates as a tonic for the kind of Tea Party figures that moderate voters have rejected in past elections.
Karl Rove has no right to complain about all these radicals ruining his nice Republican party, because hes the one who invited them, Stewart said, noting that Bushs 2004 re-election strategy was based on exploiting far right anger over same sex marriage and healthcare for illegal immigrants.
The Daily Show host also knocked Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) for chastising his colleagues for their role in shutting down the government. After all, Stewart noted that it was McCain who plucked Tea Party favorite Sarah Palin from obscurity and made her a star after he anointed her his running mate during his 2008 bid for the presidency....

the libtards keep talking as if the Tea Party is a political party. It’s just a bunch of everyday Americans. When these libtards bad mouth the Tea Party they’re really just expressing their hatred and disdain for the little people for being uppity.
John McCain has his own squishy problems but Sarah Palin isn’t one of them.
She’s his one shining light.
That ugly Jon Stewart can piss up a rope.
I think I’ll do a search and see how many writings from the early 1770’s were painting folks like Samuel Adams, Ben Franklin and others as “crazy” and “extreme” for wanting to shake off the tyranny of King George.
Liberals today, like Jon Stewart’s ilk, would all be Loyalist Tories that, after victory by the “extremist”, left for Canada.
Frankly, that’s still a great solution for them today!

And part time sausage smoker.
That’s a wonderful picture of Sarah. She’s way too much of a man for pathetic Jon Stewart.
Damn she is sexy.....
In a very classy way. One of the biggest faults I see in women lately is that they cannot differentiate between sexy and sleazy.
Thankfully, Sarah knows the difference and so do we.....
I’d like to beat Jon Stewart with a Nightstick....
He’s right about one thing, though - the Party bosses like Rove thought they could make us to dance to their tune. They wanted our energy, our organization and our votes, so long as we spent it all where they asked us to.
We weren’t willing to be the puppets the GOP masters wanted, and now they have to deal with us.
Since 11:00 p.m. on Nov 4, 2008.
Bringing Sarah to the national forefront is Juan McQueeg’s ONLY redeeming quality.
God I feel so shallow when I see SP. She’s so hot, both ideologically and physically!
Moderate = pro abortion, ant Christian and now also no concern for the National debt
A few days before John asked Sarah to join his ticket, I was in one of Tom Tancredo’s offices. We were chatting about the possibilities and I brought up Sarah’s name. Nobody knew who she was. I said that she’s smart as a whip, attractive, personable and will be what McCain needs.
All I saw were a bunch of shrugs. Later I got a call from one of his staffers; they couldn’t believe that my hunch was right.
Now she’s the best hope for this nation. If we can get the majority of the citizens to focus on prudent government instead of payoffs, we can get this nation back.
That's a very tall order, but you're exactly right. Praying this can be done.
