Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, a 2008 GOP presidential candidate turned media personality, is looking at another bid for the presidency, this time backed by ministers eager to put an evangelical into the White House.
Huckabee will test the waters when he returns home to Little Rock, Ark., December 12-13 to address the Arkansas Renewal Project, part of evangelical organizer David Lane's American Renewal Project. Huckabee had the support of pastors in his 2008 fight against eventual winner Sen. John McCain.
Among the potential candidates looking at a GOP bid, Huckabee is closest to the pastors. He is a social conservative who can quote the Bible as easy as former President Bill Clinton.
According to reports, pastors from Iowa and South Carolina two key political states early in the GOP primary season are meeting with Huckabee during the convention to urge him to run....
One Dope From Hope was enough.
No. Christians need to vote for a real conservative like Cruz.
DOA unless he runs an extremely clever campaign. The liberals will try to scare the Jews with visions of “Christian Zionists” looking to repeat the Holocaust, aside from the usual lies about putting the USA on the road to “fundie theocracy” and thus squeezing out the Catholics, ad nauseam . . .
Reagan's message was easily more positive than Carter or Mondale, Clinton more than Bush and Dole. Bush more than Gore or Kerry and Obama more than McCain or Romney. There's plenty to complain about in America, but the electorate prefers the guy with the positive message. It's why a good candidate will prevail over Hilary, but a whiner will lose.
lets see, we live I a celebrity adoring society, where we pick presidents because of their charisma and looks, and they want to foist on us the most boring, wimpy looking politician in decades.
yup, their going to set us up for another loss.
What makes you think that the Democrats wouldn’t be secretly supporting him in the primaries, just like with Akin?
This is how the GOP-e wins. They back one candidate in the primary (Gov Christie) and send out collaborators to encourage scores of conservatives to run (divide TP and conservative voters). How can conservative win GOP primaries if they field 5 plus candidates and the GOP-e fields one? Conservatives remind me of the ancient Greeks (rally around individual heroes) and the professional politicians are like the Romans (machine like). History kind of favors the war machines over the clusters.
If something isn’t done to head it off, there will be five or six, or more candidates who will persent themselves as conservative. A proven, vote-splitting formula for electing RINOs as the GOP presidential nominee.
I don’t think such a thing. Not sure what I said that implied that I did.
Dear God! Please no!
Nice looking kids there, Mike - vertical stripes are so slimming. Not sure which one tried to sneak a loaded gun onto an airliner and which one tortured and killed a dog, but I’m sure they’re a couple of fine boys, and it was all a big misunderstanding.
I have met him in person and was not impressed. His wife is great, him not so much. Somehow this idea needs go be stopped in it’s tracks NOW. There is too much at stake to be fooling around.
Who would lose more weight, Huckster or Christie?
the southern rino is as large as the northeastern rino, despite different natural habitats. Scientists explain this consistency of body habitus on the basis of deep psychological factors related to a self-centered personality that results in difficulty of being satiated, rather than on the basis of sugary or fried foods.
Huck you maybe a fine person, please please do NOT run for president.
Go away. You already tired, you do not have a constituency big enough for anything. Pure ego now.
His effort to take down Rush Limbaugh doesn’t exactly endear him to conservatives.
I can't stand him. I will not vote for him for president, and I won't vote for the Republican ticket if he is the VP nominee.
The GOP is dead.
Between his rabid catering to illegals when he was governor, and his propensity to liberally commute sentences of questionable criminals just on the basis they claim to have found Jesus, I’ve never really had any serious consideration for Huckabee.
Not that I “hate” him or anything. Just don’t particularly trust him or his brand of leadership, thanks to that bleeding-heart side of him.
Huckabee is a hypocritical fake.
He is a snakeoil salesman.
That’s what marketers might call “a really unfortunate” family photo.
He was on Fox&Friends on Friday and claiming that many on the religious right were ‘begging’ him to run.
Will not vote for Huckabee, even if he is the Republican nominee.
Same goes for Jeb, Crispy Creme, Rubio, Ryan, or any other Establishment squish.
what pastors??? you mean like Rick Warren and all the other lefties out there. Huckabee should either stay put or just plain go away.
I agree with that. I enjoy his program on FNC on Saturday evening
I don’t understand these people who run for President who have zero chance of getting elected. Do they not have more productive things to do in life??
Yet Freepers continue to insist that this woman is the inevitable 45th President...
Or she drank the head or the tail. 'Course, Hillary can probably handle that just fine.
Is he joking? Please Nooooooooo!
This shot could almost go in the Bad Christmas Family Photos album.
What is this, “Groundhog Day?”
I completely agree with you, that’s very much what happened last time. Maybe all these putative candidates (like Cruz, Paul, Walker, et al.) need to get together and pick one to run.
Pretty sure that would never happen in reality. One things these pols all have in common is abitiousness.
It would be kind of cool if in 2016 we “flipped the script” as Curtis Sliwa likes to say and ran some “bright young thing” while the Dems ran Mrs. Next-in-line Clinton.
Although now that I think about it that was kind of the situation in 2000 with W. v. Gore. Who else ran for the R. nomination that year? McCain, no?
I think closed primaries might also help. I don’t know why any party would have open primaries, I really don’t understand that. Do the dems do that or just the stupid Rs?
Ah, but Windflier I lost a $25 bet to my daughter when Hillary ran for Senate in NY. I said: how can she win, she’s a crook, she’s never done anything, Hillarycare failed? And the kid said: it’s NY, she’s a celebrity, she’s gonna win.
It hurt to pay that money, that’s all I can say.
I really wish she’d beaten Obama, he’s been a DISASTER.
That’s not the picture the American people see. They see her as always coming up roses.
You mean sorta like this?
That's about as "rosy" as Hillary gets these days.
I still wouldn’t buy a used car, or a prepaid funeral plan, from the Huckster.
Huckabee will ride to cover Christie’s right flank and divide conservative religious voters from other conservative voters.
A GOP-E man all the way.....
You mean Rand Paul and Walker who LOVE AMNESTY and Illegal aliens? NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
California Gov. Jerry Brown, a 1992 DEM presidential candidate turned media personality, is looking at another bid for the presidency, this time backed by ministers eager to put an Irish-American into the White House.
Brown will test the waters when he returns to Berkeley, Cal, December 12-13 to address the California Renewal Project, part of evangelical organizer Linda Ronstadt’s American Renewal Project. Brown had the support of pastors in his 1992 fight against eventual winner Gov. Bill Clinton.
Among the potential candidates looking at a DEM bid, Brown is closest to the pastors. He is a social liberal who can quote the Bible as easy as former President Bill Clinton.
According to reports, pastors from Iowa and South Carolina two key political states early in the DEM primary season are meeting with Brown during the convention to urge him to run....
