Mike Huckabee eyes 2016 presidential bid; pastors press him to run
The Washington Examiner's Washington Secrets ^ | December 7, 2013 | Paul Bedard

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, a 2008 GOP presidential candidate turned media personality, is looking at another bid for the presidency, this time backed by ministers eager to put an evangelical into the White House.

Huckabee will test the waters when he returns home to Little Rock, Ark., December 12-13 to address the Arkansas Renewal Project, part of evangelical organizer David Lane's American Renewal Project. Huckabee had the support of pastors in his 2008 fight against eventual winner Sen. John McCain.

Among the potential candidates looking at a GOP bid, Huckabee is closest to the pastors. He is a social conservative who can quote the Bible as easy as former President Bill Clinton.

According to reports, pastors from Iowa and South Carolina — two key political states early in the GOP primary season — are meeting with Huckabee during the convention to urge him to run....

No. Christians need to vote for a real conservative like Cruz.

DOA unless he runs an extremely clever campaign. The liberals will try to scare the Jews with visions of “Christian Zionists” looking to repeat the Holocaust, aside from the usual lies about putting the USA on the road to “fundie theocracy” and thus squeezing out the Catholics, ad nauseam . . .

I'm not so sure about this guy....but I know this much, in each of the elections sinceReagan with the exception of Bush 41, the guy with the most positive attitude has won.

Reagan's message was easily more positive than Carter or Mondale, Clinton more than Bush and Dole. Bush more than Gore or Kerry and Obama more than McCain or Romney. There's plenty to complain about in America, but the electorate prefers the guy with the positive message. It's why a good candidate will prevail over Hilary, but a whiner will lose.

What makes you think that the Democrats wouldn’t be secretly supporting him in the primaries, just like with Akin?

This is how the GOP-e wins. They back one candidate in the primary (Gov Christie) and send out collaborators to encourage scores of conservatives to run (divide TP and conservative voters). How can conservative win GOP primaries if they field 5 plus candidates and the GOP-e fields one? Conservatives remind me of the ancient Greeks (rally around individual heroes) and the professional politicians are like the Romans (machine like). History kind of favors the war machines over the clusters.

If something isn’t done to head it off, there will be five or six, or more candidates who will persent themselves as conservative. A proven, vote-splitting formula for electing RINOs as the GOP presidential nominee.

I don’t think such a thing. Not sure what I said that implied that I did.

Nice looking kids there, Mike - vertical stripes are so slimming. Not sure which one tried to sneak a loaded gun onto an airliner and which one tortured and killed a dog, but I’m sure they’re a couple of fine boys, and it was all a big misunderstanding.

the southern rino is as large as the northeastern rino, despite different natural habitats. Scientists explain this consistency of body habitus on the basis of deep psychological factors related to a self-centered personality that results in difficulty of being satiated, rather than on the basis of sugary or fried foods.
