The Clintons are trying to create the impression that Hillary has the 2016 Democratic presidential nominationif not the presidential electionsewn up. Contenders need not apply.
Hillary already has the media eating out of her hand. Barbara Walters provided her an in-kind donation by naming Hillary her most fascinating person for 2013.
And CNN political editor Paul Steinhauser recently wrote, If she decides to run, Clinton would instantly become the overwhelming frontrunner for the Democratic nomination.
Of course, the media were saying the same thing back in 2007. But a relative Senate newcomer named Barack Obama didnt know she couldnt beor wasnt supposed to bebeaten, and so he jumped into the presidential race and beat her.
A more realistic analysis would recognize that she has a lot of baggage, especially in a general election that will stress image, competency and, in the post-Obama world, honesty. Hillary is, shall we say, challenged on all three.
Further, given the nationwide angst over Obamacare, lets not forget that she was a key figure in pushing health care reform that would have rivaled Obamacares failures.
Image During Obamas first presidential bid, several young people told me that Republicans needed to find someone who was cool and hip (e.g., like Obama).
Fair enough, but is that a description of Hillary, who will be 69 years old in 2016? Thats the same age Ronald Reagan was when he won the presidency, and the media prattled on endlessly about whether he was too old.
While she is looking better in her most recent media appearances, pictures in her last year or so as Secretary of State were unflattering. She was doing funky things with her hair and often wearing some very unbecoming pantsuits.
I would be the first to say that the battle for the presidency should be about vision and policies; but were kidding ourselves if we dont recognize that much of the countrythose low-information voters who are most likely to vote Democraticchoose form over substance. How else to explain the current White House occupant?
Competency Name one major State Department achievement while Hillary ran the place. For that matter, name one major achievement while she was a New York senator. Having never lived in New York, the former first lady bought a house there so she could run for the Senate in a blue state that would elect anyone who got the Democratic nomination. She was the quintessential carpetbagger.
Since she has no successes, there will be a lot of focus on her abject failures, like Benghazi, the imploding of Libya, Syria, and Egypt along with the growing crises in Iraq and Afghanistan all of which happened on Hillarys watch.
Honesty With the departure of the most dishonest administration in recent history, the political pendulum will likely swing the other way. The public will demand the future president tell the truth, and candidatesespecially Republicanswill hammer that theme endlessly. Truth is not one of the Clinton familys strong suits.
Like the time during her last presidential campaign where she claimed, I remember landing [in Bosnia] under sniper fire. There was supposed to be some kind of a greeting ceremony at the airport, but instead we just ran with our heads down to get into the vehicles to get to our base. Then the video emerged of her strolling off the plane and chatting with people. The campaign later released a statement saying she misspoke.
And then theres the ghosts of scandals past. Younger voters may not remember much about Whitewater or Hillarys phenomenal ability to invest a little money and make huge gains. For that matter, they may not remember much about her husbands dalliances, which Bill continually denied until the DNA would let him lie no more.
In their book about the 2008 presidential election, Game Change, authors John Heilemann and Mark Halperin claim that the senior senator from New York, Chuck Schumer, was worried when Hillary was considering a 2004 presidential run because of the various stories he was hearing about Bills escapades.
Hillarycare Before there was Obamacare, there was Hillarycare. There are a few structural differences between the Clintons plan and Obamas, but the Clintons effort to take over the U.S. health care system was no less ambitious, with the then-first lady playing an integral role in drafting and trying to pass it.
The 1994 Republican takeover of the House and Senate, for the first time in 40 years, was in part a response to the Clintons health care reform effortsjust as the 2010 voter backlash was a response to Obamacare.
Republicans will want to make sure that a public upset over Obamacare could have been forced into a similar boondoggle 20 years ago, thanks the Hillary Clinton.
Many here have a favorite GOP opponent to defeat her; and, I support Scott Walker (whomever you support is fine w me).
.
Both parties don't REALLY have a finger on the pulse of America and they don't know how to approach us.
I listen to CSPAN a lot and I've never heard so many democrats talk like republicans and accuse republicans of being and doing all the dastardly things the democrats do and republicans have never done.
I think Hillary’s biggest risk is in the D primaries.
If the Chicago mob defects, they could well defeat her again.
Squaw Warren is claiming disinterest, but we’ll see....
I would too. Can you say "President Hillary?" I know it sucks, but there is no amount of baggage that will hurt her. Like the Obungler, she could machine gun a thousand people to death on the White House lawn, and it would raise her approval rating. With amnesty coming, well...........
Mister Christie's work as governor against the 2A (along with his chumminess w Mister Obama) will see to it that he never gets enough votes for nomination, one suspects and hopes.
.
She can’t pass the physical. She’s throwing blood clots and she’s not even smart enough to stay on her medicine. All that stress and traveling in the campaign? Not good.
They are already, with this and other pieces, laying the groundwork that will culminate in Hitlery's election to the Presidency. 2016 is going to an interesting year: the media will throw mud like you've never seen before!
Horse vomit! Conservative women LOVE Governor Palin.
See her recent speeches and events, and family-oriented women are always present. It's the liberal Sandra Fluke women that hate Palin, and she doesn't care because she knows she'll never get the hateful left's votes, so she's a master at bringing out the base and changing the minds of independents.
Hillary cannot compete with Sarah. Hillary has no concept of things like Twitter, Facebooking, live-blogging, or other high-tech campaign tools that Palin has utilized since leaving office. Hillary was asking voters to send postcards to family and friends to GOTV, for crying out loud in 2008.
“Republicans will want to make sure that a public upset over Obamacare could have been forced into a similar boondoggle 20 years ago, thanks the Hillary Clinton.”
This assumes Republicans even come up with a coherent message other than “managed decline”.
They’ll have to also deal with a sycophantic media the likes of which we’ve never seen.
Also, a person like Sarah can communicate with the LIVs and tell them in no uncertain terms about the exploding debt bomb, and if we don't rein in spending, then there will be no more benefits.
The only thing that could defeat her is a raw populism spread far and wide. The party that taps into this the best wins. People are sick of the federal government in general after the ObamaCare debacle.
People feel they have lost their government.
POTUS Clinton sound familiar ....?
She will definitely be the nominee....and based on voting patterns and the entitlement mentality of a huge part of the country...I think she can win...
She already has 210 electoral votes locked up based on demographics ....getting 60 more won’t hard to steal....
Hitlery will be the next pres.
Never underestimate the ignorance of the American electorate that elected zero twice.
Ben who? Oh that old 50’s tv show?
———Landslide in 2016 for Sarah.-——
I wonder the Palin cheering section understands how out of touch you are?
Palin has zero chance of being the nominee....
The left has destroyed her brand, her image, her name, her viability....
To think otherwise is living in lala land...
Don’t get me wrong ... I would vote for her in a heartbeat... She is exactly what this country needs....
But that is not reality ...
maybe she is just a stalking horse again, and they have some other evil creep that they hope to sneak in without serious vetting.
Another female candidate I can think of isn’t even 50 yet, runs marathons, seems very healthy and already has a following.

What we need to do to cripple Hillary before 2016 is impeach Obama in 2104. We’ll still be stuck with Obama through 2016, but the testimony will nail Hillary. Impeachment is an opportunity to lay all of their behind the scenes crap on the table and out to the public.
No amount of bug spray will keep the flies away from her after that. she’ll be dead meat.
So why won’t Texans who favor Cornball and George P. not also be willing to go along with Christie if Jebbie is scorned?
