Gallup released a new poll on Thursday which shows that opposition to the Tea Party is at its highest level since the polling firm started tracking the far-right, anti-government movement in 2010. Currently, 30% of adults nationwide oppose the Tea Part, while only 22% support it. Meanwhile, 48% have no real opinion of the Tea Party. The number of people opposing the Tea Party is matches the highest mark that Gallup has tracked, which occurred in November 2010, which is when a number of Tea Party-backed Republicans won House and Senate seats.

That’s interesting. I have done some recent voter ID in the swing county in a swing state. Polling among registered R’s. Tea Party has more than 70% favorable rating.

I’d say getting 41% of the GOP to agree on anything is pretty good these days.

Especially considering how badly the TP has been maligned, misrepresented and flat-out lied about in MSM and other circles.

This must be how things look from the wrong side of the cliff.

There’s polls that say the majority of Republicans want a more conservative party.

What makes you think, in light of the current lot of R crap eaters in the House and Senate, that taking the Senate would make any difference?

You think if they take it, we’ll get rid of ObamaCare? Control the borders? Hack away at entitlements?

There are a lot of Republic bills and amendments that die in Reid’s in basket. Not to mention being able to hold in check the erratic appointment of judges, or the appointment of erratic judges — you pick.

I wonder if anyone keeps stats on how many people have left the Republican Party over its’ poor leadership and liberal leaning ways? Seems to me this statistic is like Obamanomics: smaller population of Republicans (work force), fewer true conservatives (workers), equals less support for Tea Party (decline in unemployment).

you’d have a tough time calling yourself a conservative or a republican if you don’t support smaller govt, lower taxes and some fiscal responsibility within our govt

this tells me 60% of those polled claiming to be republicans were actually progressives

The tea party is not dead, the GOP just figured out how to fight us and win some battles. Unfortunately, primaries are where they pick the candidates for us when they win.

For a couple of races like Boehner, we need to vote for the Democrat to remove them as well as teach them a lesson. They are basically dems anyway and giving up a seat or two would be worth it.

Exactly.

People who want smaller, accountable government and adherence to the Constitution are considered “far right?”

Maybe only in the warped minds of the intolerant liberals.

The Tea Party, Sarah Palin, conservatives, et al are living rent-free 24/7 in their heads.

‘far-right movement’...This whole left vs. right thing is so bogus. It is much more accurate to visualize any political philosophy as falling within a continuum between tyranny and liberty. When we do this the founding fathers and small government advocates occupy the liberty end of the scale while Communism, Fascism and strongman regimes occupy the tyranny end. American Progressives and the GOPe share in common a distinct disinterest in liberty.

“That would put the Tea Party dead center and the Republican Party pretty far left which is where things really are IMO.”

Just take a look around at a T Party event, it’s just normal mom and pops like us, no radical anything. Not far right. Geesh. You’re right on target with the description.
