Run, Joe, Run: Why Democrats Need a Biden Candidacy
The Atlantic ^ | May 9, 2014 | Peter Beinart

Forget Elizabeth Warren. What the Democratic Party, and the nation, need is a real debate between Hillary Clinton's interventionism and the vice president's restraint.

Joe Biden’s prospective presidential candidacy is in danger of becoming a joke. Every week, some new Democratic bigwig pledges himself to Hillary Clinton. Pro-Hillary groups have already assembled to fend off hostile campaign press. At last weekend’s White House Correspondents Dinner, President Obama added to the air of inevitability by teasing Fox News, “You’ll miss me when I’m gone. It’ll be harder to convince the American people that Hillary was born in Kenya.”

If there’s any suspense left about the Democratic primary in 2016, it largely revolves around whether an economic populist will challenge Clinton from the left. The prospect of Elizabeth Warren entering the race tantalizes many liberals. But since Biden’s not an anti-Wall Street crusader, his potential candidacy sparks barely any interest at all. That’s too bad. While a Warren candidacy would spark one valuable debate inside the Democratic Party—about government’s role in the economy—a Biden candidacy would spark another: about America’s role in the world.

Among today’s Democratic foreign-policy elite, Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden represent opposite poles. Hillary’s a 1990s-style hawk. Although she and Bill came of age during the movement against Vietnam, they both grew far more comfortable with American military force during his presidency. In her first memoir, Clinton describes having supported America’s interventions in both Bosnia and Kosovo. As first lady, she lobbied for Bill to appoint Balkan hawk Madeleine Albright as his second-term secretary of state.

It was Albright who in 1998 famously called America “the indispensable nation. We stand tall and we see further than other countries into the future.”(continued)

We’re well down the rabbit hole when a Village People album is the antidote to coverage of the NFL draft.

Well, if the truth be told, I’d rather have Biden in the White House than Hillary.

About the only person I can think of who would be worse than Hillary is. . . .

Michelle!

Here's a campaign song he could use:

Wouldn’t it be great to see Plugs and Hillary in a debate? Maybe he could ask her about Fast & Furiious and Benghazi.

the guy is basically retarded. People made fun of how stupid George Bush supposedly was even though he was a jet pilot but Biden is actually stupid.

You joke about this, but there really is a good chance that Biden could become the nominee. The same powers that put Obama in office (and kept Hillary out) are still in charge, and nothing would serve them better than finding another puppet like Obama. And in that regard, Biden fits the bill perfectly. All they’ll need is another idiot to be his Vice President such as Hank Johnson or Corrine Brown.

I don’t think Georgie Porgie Soros is going to let anyone run against Slick Willie’s wife. She couldn’t survive a primary challenge by anybody.

Hillary is a pathetic failure at everything she has done. She is by far the worst Senator— worst Secretary of state. She was complicit in the murders in Benghazi and DID nothing!!
This is why Al Gore threw his hat in the ring. There is the very real prospect of the great Trey Gowdy to find that Hillary had Ambassador Stevens trying to pay the Al Qaeda for return of stinger missiles that she and obama provided them to shoot down Qaddafi aircraft because the UN would not authorize a “no fly zone” on a sovereign country. . She is TOAST.

Elizabeth Warren was long ago unmasked as a fraud who built an academic and political career on the fantasy or (more likely) lie that she had Native American ancestry. She should have been tarred, feathered, run out of Cambridge on a rail, and never heard from again. Instead she is being touted as a serious Democratic candidate for the presidency. What planet is this?

...a Biden candidacy would spark another: about America’s role in the world.

Thanks to Obama and the radical leftist clowns in his administration, the rest of the world now believes that America has probably become a joke, a faint shadow of its former self. A Biden candidacy followed by a Biden presidency would remove all doubt.

But, Karl Rove said she sustained brain damage in her fall sometime back that hospitalized her for four days. I loathe Tokyo Rove, but, he could be right. Wait until her erratic behavior goes on non-stop.

I'd like to see John Kerry (who served in Viet Nam) in the mix also. It would be fun to see Kerry and Hillary blasting each other over each other's dismal record as Secretary of State.
