Republicans Seek Revenge Against Ted Cruz
Time ^ | June 8, 2014 | Jay Newton-Small

Now that primary season is almost over, some establishment Republicans are looking for retribution

Ted Cruz has not made himself a popular man in Washington, D.C. The Texas Republican would argue that’s the point. But even for a Senator—an elected office with the backing of an entire state—ticking off powerful people can have consequences.

In his first two years in Washington, Cruz has managed to help force a government shutdown, undermine the GOP’s chances of taking over the Senate and force uncomfortable votes for his fellow Republicans. Not to mention the verbal bombs he lobs on a regular basis, many aimed at his own party. His colleagues, aware of the threats they face from primary challengers, have mostly held their tongues and their fire so far. But Cruz has already done some damage without much trying. A week after his election to the Senate in 2012, Cruz was named vice chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, which works to elect Republicans to the Senate. But he subsequently refused to endorse incumbent senators, or help them in their races, a fact that many Tea Party insurgents have seized upon. He hasn’t set foot in the NRSC in more than a year, sources say.

“They tried to channel him to be somewhat productive. They tried that with NRSC,” says John Feehery, a former longtime GOP Hill aide. “Lyndon Johnson once said he’d rather have people inside the tent pissing out. But [Cruz] seems to be inside the tent pissing in.”(continued)

If the GOP is stupid enough to go after Ted Cruz, it will be a HUGE motivator toward forming a true competitor in the Tea Party.

I’m 100% ready. Right now.

Sarah Palin, just saying. Pay attention everyone.

undermine the GOP’s chances of taking over the Senate

Yea, the GOPe's plan to take over the Senate was to promise amnesty to millions of illegals and to provide a slower path to socialism than the Rats.

This is as intense a hit piece as I have seen against Cruz, they compared him to Jesse Helms who Romney detested and conservatives loved, and they listed Christie, Bush, and Rand Paul as acceptable to the GOPe.

this is a problem why?

Oh noes! Cruz isn’t going to get money from RINO banking and corporate welfare interests. As a Republican, I ask myself? Why exactly is that a bad thing?

It’s time for another Reagan revolution. But, of course, leftist Time Magazine will never get that.

Don’t let Time Mag fire you up too much - I’m sure there is some truth to this, which we already knew, but Time is trying to feed the R V R war.

Don’t be fooled….

I don't see an R V R war. I see a conservatives against liberal republicans war, though.

Time Magazine? Really? Other than dentist offices buried under worn copies of People Magazine, where besides the homes of geriatric liberals would this magazine be found?

Nobody any longer cares what Time does, says, or puts on their cover.

I agree.

Sure it’s Time, and sure they’re trying to stir things up a bit, but I’m all for this.

Things need to be stirred up a bit.

Discontent and the war between conservatives and liberal republicans was obvious when Huelskamp and Amash were kicked off the House Budget Committee.

That would be Republican leadership that kicked 2 conservatives off that committee.
