Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) argued that the allegations of voter fraud in the Mississippi Senate runoff between Thad Cochran and Chris McDaniel in an interview on Monday’s “Mark Levin Show.”

“What the D.C. machine did was not try to grow the party, instead, the ads that they ran were racially charged, false attacks and they were explicit promises to continue and expand the welfare state, and nobody has suggested that the Democrats who voted in the primary will actually vote Republican in the general election,” Cruz said. “Instead, they were just recruited to decide who the Republican nominee was, and that’s unprincipled and it’s wrong. But even more troubling Mark, in the past week or so, we have seen serious allegations of voter fraud...."(continued)

That's not a complete characterization of Cruz's words on that day. There's a misunderstanding around it because all of it hasn't been reported.

His congratulations was followed by this comment:

But Cruz insisted that Cochran’s narrow victory should be a warning for Republicans in Washington, D.C. “I think that demonstrates that there is a lot of hunger for change. People are frustrated with Washington, and they're hungry for leaders who will stand up and make the case we need to go a different path,” Cruz said. (from Breitbart)

SO, it was an UNHAPPY Cruz who said "I certainly congratulate...Cochran".

In a subtle way, he even suggested there were problems with the election BEFORE fraud was found....which he couldn't possibly have known about immediately after the election since it's only been proven since then:

“Listen: this is nothing new,” he said. “We see mischief where you have people from the other party vote in your primary because they think that a particular candidate is more vulnerable, more attractive to them for whatever reason. That's part of politics.”

If he'd made an immediate accusation of fraud, he'd have been shark food in the media.

There was an article posted the day out the run-off (I’ll have to dig it out later) in which Cruz was apparently having second thoughts about his deal with McConnell and Ayotte, after the way the GOP-E behaved in Mississippi.

He has no power over Rick Perry. They are in two different wings of the party. But the probable incoming governor is his mentor.

Cruz does not rush in, he has learned well from experience, a quality few current politicians learn, in the grand scheme of this Cochran business Cruz responded correctly.

We know, no one is perfect, but when it comes to Cruz he is as close as one could ever expect.

He consistently demonstrates, competence, honesty, integrity and courage, all up in the face of a totally corrupt political institution.

I have called his DC office a couple of times regarding various issues and identified myself as his constituent in MS, most recently last night. Maybe he realises that this anger isn’t going away, as it damn well shouldn’t.

I took it as a throw-away line from someone who just wasn’t paying attention, yet, to what was really happening here. He is, after all, the Sentor for Texas.

Actually, Chaplain, if he had made an immediate accusation of fraud, he'd have been ahead of the curve, which is where we're accustomed to seeing Senator Cruz.

We all knew it was fixed from day one.

I agree. We knew it was fixed. We even knew it would be fixed. Ahead of time every thinking person on the planet should have known....including McDaniel.
