The U.S. Chamber Of Commerce Is Saving the GOP Establishment at Ballot Box
Time Magazine ^ | July 14, 2014 | Alex Altman

Business group has been major force in 2014 races.

On the day after New Jersey and Virginia’s gubernatorial elections last fall, Mitch McConnell showed up at a board meeting of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce with another race on his mind. He announced that the day’s most consequential contest had been neither Chris Christie’s victory nor Ken Cuccinelli’s defeat. Instead, the Senate minority leader explained, it had been a GOP primary in South Alabama.

The Chamber had shelled out about $200,000 in the sleepy district on the Mississippi border to rescue a mainstream candidate who was struggling to fend off a Tea Party firebrand. The race had emerged as a test of whether the GOP could thwart a conservative insurgency that threatened to swallow it. Backed by the Chamber’s money and muscle, the establishment candidate eked out a victory. If it wasn’t for you, McConnell told the audience, according to two people present, it wouldn’t have happened.

The visit was both a token of institutional gratitude and a sign of things to come....

They pretty much had their way with our state’s primaries.

Yep.

I had a leftie (at another site) tell me that the COC underwrote the TEA party wins in 2010. Seriously.

Yo, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, why don't you spend a little money on buying life vests for little children trying to swim across the Rio Grande?

Maybe you could get your bud, Jeb Bush, to chip in a few pesos as well. As an act of love.

I sure hope the GOP isn’t counting on the DNC infested Chamber of Commerce of bailing them out in November too. It isn’t going to happen. The GOP better come up with a Plan B. Quickly.

Time Magazine doesn't care about the middle class or blue-collar Americans.

It's clear that Washington is completely out of control, controlled by elitists, and nothing short of another revolution is going to save this nation.

GOPe getting attaboys from a magazine that hates Republicans. That pretty much tells you all you need to know about the current regime running the GOP - they are morphing into Democrats.

We should have a third party: the Chamber of Commerce Party (aka, The Rent Seeker Party).

“Now, legal plunder can be committed in an infinite number of ways. Thus we have an infinite number of plans for organizing it: tariffs, protection, benefits, subsidies, encouragements, progressive taxation, public schools, guaranteed jobs, guaranteed profits, minimum wages, a right to relief, a right to the tools of labor, free credit, and so on, and so on. All these plans as a whole — with their common aim of legal plunder — constitute socialism.

Now, since under this definition socialism is a body of doctrine, what attack can be made against it other than a war of doctrine? If you find this socialistic doctrine to be false, absurd, and evil, then refute it. And the more false, the more absurd, and the more evil it is, the easier it will be to refute. Above all, if you wish to be strong, begin by rooting out every particle of socialism that may have crept into your legislation. This will be no light task.”

— Frederic Bastiat, the Law, 1850

Proof another party is what’s needed. If it gives the democrats a victory it will also be giving the rinos a defeat.

Notice how relatively quiet the big amnesty supporters in the GOPe have been?

Why doesn’t Gov. Perry in TX just use his National Guard? President’s federalized the guard to do their bidding can he force them to sit on their hands?

I thought the NG in states were there to help that state in a time of crises and this counts.

Well, you can rely on them for your VOTES too, GOP scum!!! What’s that, a few thousand, most of whom are in deep blue states?

You’ve nominated majority candidates most people hate, and you’ll suffer for it. And I will not shed a tear if/when Kentucky kicks Mitch to the curb. The WORST minority leader we’ve ever seen.

Loud and clear: Vote against the Chamber of Commerce-endorsed candidates in the primary, and if they win but are no better than the ‘Rat on your key issues, vote for the ‘Rat in the general. It’s time to hoist the black flag and start cutting throats in the effort to retake the GOP.

The Chamber of Commerce might provide the money but they can’t create voters for general elections. I would take a stand in MS and vote for the Democratic in order to teach the GOPe a lesson.
