Skip to comments.DREAMer confronts Steve King: Here, tear up my DACA card if you donít want me here

As many others have noted, the high point here is Rand Paul bailing out mid-bite as soon as he hears the word DREAM. Hell get in your face on foreign policy and hell push bold, controversial ideas like restoring voting rights to felons, but put him on camera in the middle of a squabble between Steve Cantaloupe Calves King and a pair of illegals when hes gearing up for 2016 and all thats left is one of those little dust clouds like in a Roadrunner cartoon.
If not for that, my favorite moment would be Erika Andiola reassuring King that DACA is constitutional because her companions an attorney and he thinks it is. Back in reality, Conn Carroll notes correctly that the fact that Andiola has a DACA card at all is proof that what Obamas been up to isnt executive business as usual:
In the past, presidents have granted Deferred Action status to small groups of immigrants for humanitarian and foreign policy reasons (President Bush granted such status to foreign students affected by Hurricane Katrina).
But never before had a president granted such broad based relief to the general illegal immigrant population, created a special form for them to apply, and required a set application fee to receive Deferred Action benefits.
Obamas DACA program changed all that. Instead of just prioritizing otherwise law biding illegal immigrants, like Andiola, at the bottom of the immigration enforcement list, Obama gifted them a legal status and work permits (and is even forcing states to issue them drivers licenses). This is a night and day change from what his predecessors have done (or rather, not done) on the issue.
And now were on the verge of expanding that treatment to five million more people. What youre seeing here, actually, is a microcosm of the national immigration debate. King opposes amnesty through whatever means but is especially exercised about Obamas DACA power grab. Andiola and her friend, while willing to argue the legal merits half-heartedly, are clearly following a lets do whats right and worry about whats constitutional later approach. And of course reporters are on alert for anything King says that can be used as a cudgel against him and the GOP, with underwhelming results this time out. Maybe theyll have better luck after Obama announces DACA II and Republicans get really mad.
FUBO on your DACA
Hope he tore it up.
And that would be destroying a federal document.
Fines, penalty, etc. etc.
Going to have to come up with better bait than that Erika.
I would have torn it up, put it on the end of my boot and invited the illegal POS to bend over so I could insert it for his safekeeping.
Wow - I wish I could walk up to government officials and dare them to arrest me for crimes I’ve committed.
But I’m white.
I’d be thrown in jail.
Does she have a job or does she just use her DACA to collect Welfare , Food Stamps etc etc etc ?
In fact, DACA status for the children, now allows the illegal parents to stay.
President Obama unilaterally implemented provisions of the DREAM Act, circumventing Congress under the guise of prosecutorial discretion. The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals or DACA program gives amnesty by executive fiat and work authorizations to illegal aliens under the age of 30 who claimed they arrived in the country before the age of 16. ICE officers would later report that this amnesty was being applied to adult illegal aliens who have been arrested for criminal offenses. In an interview the same day, Secretary Napolitano admitted that DHS internally set it up so that the parents are not referred for immigration enforcement if the young person comes in for deferred action, thereby further expanding the scope of the non-enforcement directive.
Anything to avoid being drawn into an actual respectful debate.
Everyday, we have children[citizens] hurt from their parents decisions to commit crimes. Yet, no one speaks out for those poor kids who get affected.
Nineteen seconds in Rand Paul takes a powder.
Yeah, he made out like a tree, didn’t he?
I noticed. Rand is not ready for prime time.
May the DREAMer have a vehicle to vehicle interaction with a fellow illegal who has no insurance or driver license...
He looked like Harpo Marx in an MGM comedy.
Her DACA card is no good to her any more..
unless she was able to renew it it ran out on June 15...
It was only good for 2 years...
Rand you pandering pussy..smh
I’ve got the shredder right here
For your DACA crap, dear.
I just hope this dumb program
Won’t jam its gears.
Can do, can do, this one says jam it up your rear.
Somewhere in the video King appears to state that there is a lawsuit over the legality of the Dreamer regulations. Does anyone have a link to this?
Steve King should be given some sort of award for putting up with tattoo illegal girl, who would not let him get a word in edgewise.
And puny Paul, of course, heads for the hills.
Well, it wasn’t a “he” in King’s face. The Rats sent a female, of course. You know, that war on women....
But Im white.
Well, then you are committing a crime: BWW, i.e. Breathing While White.
U.S. District Judge Reed OConnor, who earlier this year had expressed agreement with the agents contention that the deferred deportation program undermined their duty to enforce the law, said on Wednesday that it was not within his courts jurisdiction to decide on what essentially is a dispute between federal employees and their employer, the U.S. government.
In his decision to dismiss the case, OConnor, sitting in Dallas, Texas, nonetheless reiterated his view that DACA was inherently unlawful.
Plaintiffs were likely to succeed on the merits of their claim that the Department of Homeland Security has implemented a program contrary to congressional mandate, he said in his ruling.
Kris Kobach, the attorney who represented the 10 agents of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in their lawsuit, said that despite the dismissal of the case, the judges comments vindicated the agents.
Today, the court once again made clear that the Obama Administrations DACA Directive violates federal law, Kobach said in a written statement. The question that the court focused on in the ruling was a purely jurisdictional onewhether this case can proceed in federal court or whether it must go through administrative bodies in the executive branch.
Rand the Runt supports amnesty.
Thank you very much!
DACA = caca
I wonder if this decision is being appealed?
Here’s the opinion.
No, it is not.
