Push is on for Sarah Palin-led Third Party to go on 'warpath'
The Chicago Sun-Times' Politics Early & Often ^ | August 5, 2014 | Chad Merda

Could Sarah Palin revive her political career through an ultra-conservative third party? If one former California State assemblyman has his way, yes.

In an op-ed published on conservative Christian site Barbwire, activist Steve Baldwin says the GOP establishment just isn't cutting it.

And he thinks Sarah Palin is his woman to change that.

"We don’t want the GOP to pursue a 'socialism-lite' agenda. We want them to go on the warpath and do whatever it takes to stop the destruction of our constitutional Republic," Baldwin wrote. "It has become increasingly clear that the GOP leadership will do everything in its power to prevent the party from being influenced in any way by the Tea Party. I have given up on the GOP and am simply not sure it can ever be reformed."

He goes on to lay out a plan for a new Third Party that "will do to the GOP what the GOP did to the Whig Party 150 years ago: it will replace the GOP as the main party contesting the Democrat Party."

But Baldwin doesn't take all the credit for such a plan.

"I would never have said this a few years ago, but it may be time to create a conservative Third Party," Baldwin wrote. "Sarah Palin, among others, has suggested doing just this. But how do we do form a new Third Party without handing the Democrats many electoral victories for years to come?"

Is creating a successful Third Party a longshot? You betcha.

But Baldwin says that long shot would be a lot shorter if they had Palin at the helm.

"We would also need a stable of respected national conservative leaders such as Sarah Palin and others to lead the charge on such an effort," Baldwin wrote.

Baldwin apparently missed the memo that indicated Americans want Sarah Palin to stop talking.

So you intend to improve on human nature?
You intend to form a party that is immune to pride and anger and self interest and stupidity and disloyalty?

Good luck with that!

Any new Party will consist of human beings with the same failings at the current GOP.

“However? If we can’t win in Republican primaries, how on Earth are we going to win in a General Election when all the Commies are voting too?”

Which brings me to the story of the insanely angry person, full of resentment, full of victimhood, who decides to end it all with suicide.

“I’ll show them,” he threatens, and pulls the trigger.

It’s called voting. How many people do not vote? How many people stayed home last election? How about a Free Republic poll?

Vote for what? Who? The Romney campaign crapped on Sarah Palin, the Tea Party and evangelical Christians. That was the most stupid thing they could have done, diss the very people who make up the GOTV, grass roots, boots on the ground conservatives. It's no wonder he lost. I'm sorry but the current Republican party is DEAD!

If Sarah was Commander and Chief, even at 65 years of age I would consider going back to the Navy. The have done away my rate of Radioman and probably would not pass the physical but for Sarah, I would give her the old John Paul Jones try!

If not now then when? Most of us *gopes and donkeys* have given great thought as to whom will get our vote in 2 years. As an oath has been taken to never vote for the ass, and due to the fact the gope has behaved like an ass, another oath taken to vote for gope ONLY if a candidate earns the vote by standing for the same values held dear to the heart.

Sarah would be the one to spearhead such a Conservative Party. With Trey Gowdy, Mike Lee, Louie Gohmert, Tim Scott, Alabama’s Sessions, Gov Walker, Dr. Carson, to name just a few. There are countless more with big names and not so big names, but they are out there. Steve Baldwin, brother of Alec, has certainly stated where he would land. If not now, then when? This might be the only opportunity we have other than shouting the buck stops here, and take matters into our own hands in a reenactment of the American Revolution. Both parties have voters who are searching for something different No dynasties, no incumbents. New faces and new beginnings.

Talk is the beginning. The second step would be commitment and the faith in ourselves to be so bold.

Conservatives did lose to incumbents this round of primaries, but this was only the beginning. Conservatives won a few in ousting out the gope/asses This might be the last chance we have to save our Nation.

The only alternative would be to dig a hole, jump in, and cover ourselves for the next few eons only peeking out to see the current state of affairs. And frankly, this entity would not enjoy living this way. As Mr. Henry would say “Give me liberty or give me death.”

By the way, the gope party is dead. They shot themselves in the state of Mississippi.

Canada did it. The old Progressive Conservative party which was very similar to today’s GOP and I think was in existence about as long as Canada itself was wiped out and replaced (technically merged) by a much more conservative one.

It took time though.

Push is on to split Republican voters as it’s the only way Dems can possibly win now.

I'm not a republican. Have not been for years and years. That's the way it's been with many Freepers, so it's not a real change.

No need to have an “ultra-conservative” third party. Simply being mainstream conservative will do.

I’ve been saying for some time that if she did do this that 10 million would follow immediately, guaranteed. Another 20 million within three months willing to do what it takes to make Sarah Commander-in-Chief.

There is one factor that is often overlooked when people try to calculate how a genuinely viable third party that looked to take away significant numbers of voters from the GOP would effect the dynamics of elections.

That factor is the millions of conservative, independent voters who have basically "dropped out, tuned out" from the electoral process altogether because of their despair the GOP ever amounting anything, etc. One only has to look at the pattern in growth of total voters in the presidential elections to see that there are increasing numbers of "missing" voters, who should have been there to match population growth, but yet who are not.

Provide those people with a viable alternative and get them engaged again, and you can have a viable third party that really does have a shot at replacing the GOP.

A FReeper on another, recent thread made an interesting categorization — the Republican left and the Republican right.

Define each...with the Roves, Prebius’, McRomney’s, etc, being the left and the Ted Cruz’ being the right.

They can all represent the party, but with a true distinction....nothing to hide behind at campaign - or legislation vote time.

I think so...The majority of this country is still made up of Americans who love their country and understand what the Republic stands for in spite of what the media prints......They have no representation from either party....Their country is being invaded by illegals with no resistance from current leadership......A third party that represents the Constitution and what it means regarding the Republic could ignite something in the heart of this country that could possibly even overcome the voter fraud that has become in your face with not even one elected official rocking the boat over it......I think Palin could possibly even eclipse her 2008’ popularity on the campaign trail being free of the garbage she had as handlers at that time....

Exactly. The reason we only have 30-50% voter participation isn't just because of pothead slackers and the like.

Shouldn’t people vote for the best candidate instead of not voting? Just heard too many here say they didn’t vote and America now has the worst administration in its history and the Constitution is an historical document without any power. Not that the Constitution protects us from tyranny. Seems kind of lame in that regards.
