Glenn Beck clarifies comments about Ted Cruz

Conservative radio host Glenn Beck has taken to his blog to clarify comments about 2016 presidential candidate Ted Cruz he made on Monday’s show.

The comments came amid a discussion about who Beck thought would be the right fit for the White House in 2016.

This led to the surprising quote where Beck said of Sen. Cruz, “I’m not sure he could govern.”

Of course, Beck has long been a supporter of Cruz, so he wrote a clarification Tuesday morning entitled “Shocker: Media takes Glenn’s comments about Ted Cruz completely out of context.”

Here’s a quick excerpt:

As we were discussing the challenges for Cruz and others, I mentioned that Cruz might have a tough time putting together a coalition because of all the work the media and politicians on left and right have done vilifying him. The way I tried to poorly summarize that was to say that “I’m not sure he could govern.”

Of course, the media has jumped all over that as if Vladimir Putin just came out as anti-Russia. But, context is key here. The specific example we used to discuss what we meant by “coalitions” and to “govern” was George W. Bush’s infamous decision in the midst of bailout mania as he “abandoned free market principles to save the free market system.” Bush quite clearly built a broad coalition to govern in that instance, but I don’t consider that something to aspire to[...]

Executing the nations “policy, actions, and affairs” as the dictionary definition reads is something I consider Ted Cruz to be quite capable of. Avoiding George W. Bush type “coalitions” is precisely why I like him.

Irony lost, if that’s truly what Beck intended.

I think Beck was trying to be provacative, but insead came off as unstable. After weeks of praising Cruz, he apparently had another mood swing.

The great think is that his business has suffered considerably since most on the right realized it. If only the rest would, his only audience would be other mediots.

Speaking of which, has Levin left the GOP yet? He was ‘this close” before the election and the GOP has been out of the closet since so I’d thing he should have hit the line by now. It would be nice to have one of them stand behind their rhetoric between book ads for a change instead of simply milking us.

At first I thought this kook was suffering from athlete`s brain, a serious side effect from his chronic case of foot-in-mouth disease, but he`s just another in a long list of progressive sellouts.

Sounds to me like adding insult to injury, now he saying Cruz aspires to be like Bush.

What other conclusion can you come to the entire statement even in the so-called context is grossly convoluted.

Glenn Beck sweats insanity.

The number one talk station in our market recently tossed Herman Cain in favor of Beck. I’m still fuming. I’ve tried to listen to Beck a couple of times (had never heard him before). Y’all are right, he’s a kook.
