I agree and what bugs me is that Ted has to know this and yet he’s running around acting like he’s automoatically a Natural Born Citizen. There is evidence that he believed the exact opposite before his ambition got the better of him. This is a problem.
If TC were the nominee we’d be facing a meltdown in the face of the rats making hay out of this issue. TC knows this also.
I’m not sure that at this point his role hasn’t morphed to Trump taker outer for the GOPe.

He is vicariously serving as mule carrying the time clock. Cruz gives the Establishment time to consolidate all the various numbers of the rest of the field behind one Establishment pick, hoping the consolidated numbers are enough to tackle TRUMP’s numbers.
Timing is probably everything, the Establishment will dismantle Cruz right on time, then everybody else drops out save the Establishment pick. Cruz is a danged diversion that gives time to the ESTAB to pick their own mule, before Cruz goes down in New Hampshire.
It is a very exciting time. Scenarios galore. Then TRUMP wins. LOL!!

Just watched his FL rally...the man is AMAZING! I have never seen anything like this - not a politician with a teleprompter, not a public speaker usually - it is incredible. He makes Obama - the renowned speaker - look like a sick joke. It was a stemwinder!

Time and again, year after year, Rush has tried to undermine Professor Tribe. There was some sleazy book scandal. I forget the specifics. But that alone might not be enough.
We all know Cruz is smart, but he won’t look smart if he fails to decimate Tribe intellectually.
Do you follow Morning Joe faithfully, by chance? I DVR the program daily and fast forward the commercials. Amazing is the support TRUMP has on there, and the interest he has captured among almost all of Joe and Mika’s Lefty guests.
This morning Mark Halprin reports on both the Pensacola, FL rally, which he attended, and on his interview with TRUMP for his and John Heidleman’s own program, on Bloomberg TV:
Halprin says TRUMP and Cruz have enough Eastern seaboard ties to the Establishment Republicans, that the real side- fight going on is between these two guards of the Establishment, as to which of the two candidates (TRUMP or Cruz) they think they can work with.
Seems that some are courting Cruz, and others can appreciate TRUMP. Cruz has years of ties with Princeton, where he was educated, and has connections with that crowd and with Goldman Sachs, who are the nemesis of most Republican conservatives. All this, according to Halprin.
I’m thinking that TRUMP is independent and unmanageable, but certainly has ties to Eastern Democrats and Republican establishment, obviously for NY business deals, socially, and politically, but he’s too wealthy and powerful in his own right to be bought or sold, or made to carry water. TRUMP also has across-the-aisle appeal of the sort that Cruz could only dream of.
I believe Cruz, if he wants to rise, will deal. He can be bought by the Establishment to realize his own ambitions for the future and to establish himself for greater things, be it running for President of the United States, or some other high minded position of power that appeals to his interests.
GET this.. Joe and Mark discussed the stories of Cruz being a “hypocrite”. Stories report that Cruz was always a fit with all the Establishment types, Princeton and Goldman Sachs, and was right in the center of the establishment figures running George W. Bush’s inside campaign . Then along comes the Tea Party, and Cruz switches to conservatism and rides that TEA lane right into the US Senate, throwing off all establishment ties, and flogging the conservative movement instead, to prepare for a presidential run. Crafty, huh? Oh well, good for him.
This is why Geo W. Bush was overheard so harshly dissing Cruz.
This is why Alan Dershowitz called Cruz a hypocrite, when recalling him as a student— one who aced his course, argued with Dershowitz in class that the original intent of the Constitution was supreme and not a “living” document.
Then Dershowitz says Cruz came to Washington, DC and lobbied for resolutions to issues that made the Constitution a “living” document. Thus, the “hypocrite” label came from Alan, in this case.
Well, duh, Trump HAS to beat the other Republicans before he can deal with the RATS.
Same applies to Rafael.
The RATS don't care who gets the Republican nomination, as long as it isn't Rafael or Donald.

Thanks! This is what I’ve been suspecting but without enough info to pin it down like you just did. He is a convenient conservative, an opportunist. This explains the wierd votes, like voting for TPA and then the stupid excuse that McConnell lied to him or going to the border to give teddy bears to the little kids who were mysteriously making the journey across the border.
I saw an excerpt of an interview he did in 2012 in which he said a natural born citizen is 2 citizen parents and born on the soil. Now of course he’s changed his story to suit his ambition.
He’s smart but not so smart that some people can’t sense something is wrong. 2 and 2 weren’t making 4. Thanks so much for your post.
I think so, too, on the points you explained; TPA, the dang teddy bears with Beck, his own rather “living” definition of what constitutes natural born citizenship, depending on what is opportune in one case but not in his own case! This is exactly what Dershewitz was describing, isn’t it...
Some of Cruz’ baffling performances are getting exposed, since he either failed to explain wth he was doing at all, or else his explanations just did not hold water.
The thing is, TRUMP can elect to present all this high wire act, in ads, in living color, in Ted’s own words, saying it on LIVE video. We have all seen them.
libbylu insists that Cruz is “brilliant” for doing the same in ads against his opponents— using the opponent’s quotes and videos against them.
Wonder what it will be called in reverse, or if it will be touted as “brilliant” if and when TRUMP should use it, because he most certainly has it available for use, even now. Even in IOWA, actually.
Right now, TRUMP doesn’t need it. He is concern trolling Cruz. Have you seen him? TRUMP has thrown all this out there, let the media expose the details for him and at their expense, and then sits back.
When asked about it, TRUMP expresses “concern”! LOL! He says that Cruz is very nice to him and supports his opinions even in his (Cruz) own campaign, and then says he hopes Cruz gets all these citizenship problems taken care of. It’s hilarious, actually.

PS. The difference in TRUMP and Cruz is that TRUMP when accused, admits it. He says, “GUILTY, AS CHARGED”, and then explains the strategy behind why he did this or that.
Cruz “swivels” (shifting) uncomfortably, reportedly, as in his Meagain Kelly interview, when asked about his dissing of “New York values”.

I postulated on another thread that maybe Ted calling McConnell a liar was really Kabuki Theater.
Tell me is this makes sense:
Cruz voted for TPA cloture, McConnell promised not to bring up the EXIM bank, McConnell did bring up EXIM, and then Cruz called him a liar.
McConnell got what he wanted and Cruz got cover for his vote.
Then there was the Corker vote. Cruz voted for it and then staged a protest about the Iran deal.
His votes just do not match what he says he is for.
Ted Cruz is shifty. I knew he creeped me out for a reason...just couldn’t pin it down. I’ve been reading everything I could about him to try and develop a rational for what I sensed. This might also explain some of the GOP endorsements coming out for TC - the GOPe trying to try to stop Trump
I don’t get MSNBC on my cable unfrtunately.
Someone will tie together all those maneuvers you just mentioned into a package, put a bow on it, and shove it out there, so that even the Third Grade reader can surely put the objects in the picture together.
TRUMP will let the media, or the GOPE, or the other opponents be the purveyor of the task, and at their expense, not his. lol!
The caveat is that DRUDGE also is headlining a report that the Establishment may try to cut a deal with Cruz, which would surprise no one, actually, among the politically informed. We’ll have to see what desperation can wrought, from Cruz, and/or the GOPE.
MJ lives politics and political strategizing. They love what they do and for this cycle they have been practically TRUMP boosters. (My go-to TV site for brains-at-work).
