One Big Reason To Be Less Skeptical Of Trump
FiveThirtyEight ^ | JAN 21, 2016 | Nate Silver

But so far, the party is not doing much to stop Trump. Instead, it is making such an effort against Cruz. Consider:

The governor of Iowa, Terry Branstad, said he wanted Cruz defeated. Bob Dole warned of cataclysmic losses if Cruz was the nominee, and said Trump would fare better. Mitch McConnell and other Republicans senators have been decidedly unhelpful to Cruz when discussing his constitutional eligibility to be president. An anti-Cruz PAC has formed, with plans to run advertisements in Iowa. (By contrast, no PAC advertising has run against Trump so far in January.)

Nate Silver is a hardcore Obamabot.

His predictions are mostly wishful thinking on his part.

Actually a pretty good analysis by Nate Silver.

Despite his Radical Lib credentials he is always worth paying attention to come election-time. He picked 50 out of 50 states in 2012. A little luck mixed with very good analysis in that case but still not to be ignored.

With Rush, Sarah, and Jim Robinson on board, it’s kind of hard to believe people that say that Trump is really a liberal in drag.

To win against the democrat machine with all its voter fraud, deceit, MSM aid...etc will require someone willing to do ANYTHING to prevail.

If you honestly ask yourself who can wage war against that corrupt machine and have a chance of winning... the answer is Trump!

The reason we are in this ridiculous condition is the republican party’s failure to fight this fraudulent menace head on and with righteous indignation.

This has led us to the point where we either support a strong-man like Trump or let the whole country go under.

I’d rather support Trump...at least with him there is a chance.

this guy is so full of crap.. EVERY time the establishment attacked Trump he got more poll numbers... now he says Trumps looks better because they aren’t going to attack him anymore.. he didn’t see the National Review?,, Trump has had a 20 point lead or better in almost every national poll for months and all of a sudden Trump looks like he may pull it out because the establishment can’t hurt him.. when could they?

Trump declared himself that as president, he would transform himself into an establishment politician in order to get “deals done.” The truth is that no one knows his true partisan heart, if there even is one which I doubt, and everyone is finding what it is they want to see.

With Rush, Sarah, and Jim Robinson on board, it's kind of hard to believe people that say that Trump is really a liberal in drag.

My wife, daughter and son {Navy Captain 25+ years, recently retired} have all switched to Trump.

I'm still a Cruzer but it is getting harder to send money, and there is no sense in getting into family arguments because no logic will work with Trumpsters.

Trump supporters are so pissed off, that no one from the government, even a first term super conservative Senator from Texas will satisfy them.

They were really on board when Trump said, "No mooselimbs until we figure out what the hell is going on". After that, every thing else was just white background noise.

Thanks Onyx!
I hope you saw him on Hannity.....it was very good!

I hope you heard his introduction of Trump at Liberty University......it was outstanding!
He sees traits in Trump that remind him of his father, and Trump was humbled by the remark.
Jerry Falwell was bold, non pc and a visionary!

This article points out what Washington would be like under Cruz - total deadlock. It’s a shame but unless Cruz abandons his Constitutional principles and resorts to executive orders, nothing will get done. He will have to constantly fight both the libs and the Republicans. That is fine if you can somehow move the ball down field, but I do not see how he will do it. Obviously, this assumes he gets past the eligibility challenge, which the liberal nominee will launch if he becomes the Republican nominee. I would really like to hear from those who have a plan on how Cruz would overcome the Washington obstructionists.

It’s not a war against another party, its a choice for the best man for the job. The Establishment will never want an honest man in the position.

Cruz or loose. Not the vote, the Country.

He’s neither a liberal or a conservative-he’s a nationalist-just a great American that will do what needs to be done to make America great again. I have faith that he will defend the second amendment and will reverse the illegal immigration trend and secure the borders. I can be content with that. I will consider it a bonus if he cuts taxes, repeals Obamacare, rebuilds the military, and murders ISIS. I do not care if he is a liberal or a Conservative. I want the country fixed.

But it’s asinine to say “the party” isn’t trying to stop Trump: what do you call an entire issue of National Review? No it’s not the official RNC but their fingerprints are on it.

Agree, we don’t know with Trump. But considering that no Republican president since Reagan has even tried to govern the way they promised to in their campaign, and we all knew that the last two candidates (McCain and Romney) were flat-out LYING to us to try to get our votes...it becomes somewhat difficult to say Trump is any worse.

“abandons his consttitutional principles” whoa there.

The constitution is important or it isn't. It has been trampled on enough. Our country needs to be reminded the value of what conservatism is all about.

The liberals have successfully branded people who strongly believe in the constituion as nutjob and fringe.
The constitution needs to be restored to its honerable place in our government.

Trump needs to prove he really respects the constition. No saying he will write his executive orders to replace Obama’s exective orders. No, self serving birther attacks will not prove that. If he pushes all of the constition and not just what he thinks sound good as an attack, it could possibly be seen as more genuine.
