Four-time presidential candidate Ralph Nader has a bit of advice for Democratic candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders. Stay in the race.
In an opinion column run this week in TIME magazine Nader said Sander should ignore cries from the Hillary Clinton campaign that he is playing the spoiler and stay in the race until at least the convention, if not longer:
There are still lessons that Sanders can teach the decadent corporate Democrats for whom this 2016 campaign may be their last hurrah. It is called political energy. It is the lack of political energy that explains why the Democratic Party, year after year, cannot defend the country from the worst Republican Party, on its own record, in Congressional history.
In addition to providing an opportunity to advocate for statehood for Washington D.C., Nader said Sanders staying in the race provides an alternative should Clintons legal issues surrounding her alleged misuse of a personal computer as an email server for classified state department messages. Clinton, the former Secretary of State, was criticized for her handling by the State Department and is currently under investigation by the F.B.I.
Like Trump, Hillary has imploding potential. Her email troubles are under Justice Department investigation and revelations are still bubbling. The smarm surrounding the Clinton quadrangle of Bills huge speech fees, mining and other magnates securing concessions in foreign dictatorships, the role of the State Department and giant gifts to the Clinton Foundation continue to surface. Also intriguing is the fact that Hillary continues to stonewall any public disclosure of the transcripts, contractually in her exclusive possession, of her $5,000-per-minute, closed-door speeches to big banks and other industries.
Also, Nader calls for Sanders to continue in order to keep supporters focused and hoping in order to keep Democrats from defecting to Republican presumptive nominee Donald Trumps camp.
Nader calls for Bernie to start this fundamental movement for a functioning democracy with a massive gathering a the National Mall in Washington D.C. with a massive rally on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. .
That a long-time, lone-ranger Senator can get this far is a tribute to his focus on widely-felt, repressed priorities. His candidacy is contrasted with the avarice of the plutocratic/oligarchic corporate state. This dominant corporatism possesses few loyalties to country and community other than to control them while treating the workers economy with disinvestment and unbridled globalization
Both Presidents Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Dwight Eisenhower warned their fellow Americans about this subordination of our government to big business and its impact on our liberties and livelihoods
Perhaps the sonorous feel the Bern call at Sanderss gigantic rallies around the country has its echoes in those similar warnings by these leadersone Democrat and one Republicancoming from their experience during the Great Depression and World War II.
The media won’t allow Hillary to implode
well, Hillary does have more dirty linen than Hilton Hotels
Nadar saved the country in 2000. For that alone, he deserves some respect. But I still won’t give this commie bastard any.
If Bernie does not stay in the race when Hillary implodes and she will, the elites can then install the candidate of their choice which might be able to defeat Trump.
I really think Obama is setting the table for a Hillary nomination and then her immediate destruction. At this point Bernie would not be a contestant. The movers and shakers of the Demonic-Rat party would then call on Joe Biden and the “Indian” Elizabeth Warren to save the party.
They might defeat Trump. Hillary has no chance against Trump. Obama is a 100% marxist ideology and will thus support Biden and Warren to continue his legacy. Hillary’s worst enemy is not Donald Trump but is Obama.
His knife in the back will happen after the convention and it will be in the hands of Loretta Lynch. It is called indictment.
“I clutch yet and I clutch not, all the perfumes of Arabia will not cleanse these hands of mine.” “Macbeth”
Gee, one old Red-Green telling another loser to stay the course.
Well, if you really “Feel the Bern, get Preparation H” for it.
So Ralph Nader doesn’t believe the bogus push polls, either?
I've been thinking about this scenario for a while. Unfortunately, that would be a much stronger ticket against Trump.
Of course, any coverage this gets will include the helpful information that he cost Gore the 2000 election. ;')
