Morning Joe VP Sweepstakes: Pence, Flynn, Christie Touted
Legal Insurrection ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 07/11/2016 6:07:42 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

It’s the Donald Trump veep sweepstakes! Step right up and take your pick . . . The Morning Joe crew had fun playing the game this morning.

Mark Halperin pushed Indiana governor Mike Pence, saying he was someone that people would look at and say he was a responsible choice. Harold Ford, Jr. suggested a general, to shore up Trump’s military credentials–and retired General Mike Flynn’s name has been floated. Mika Brzezinski, without naming names, pushed hard for someone with foreign policy experience. Finally, Joe Scarborough made the case for Chris Christie, as a tough, reliable campaigner: someone who is “not going to embarrass you and chances are pretty good he’s going to embarrass the other side.”

General Flynn.

Yes, he may support pro-choice, but we have serious problems in regards to national security and foreign affairs that we need a strong person for.

Flynn won’t be making any changes in fed govt. as veep to change abortion laws.

There are 1.3 million dead unborn children a year. A more serious problem? I don’t think so, and I doubt anyone would if they were newborns.

I like Sessions or Santorum. I doubt it will be either, though.

I don’t care who he chooses - there will be many “disappointed” folks no matter who he names.

The selection of spineless RINO Pence will cause me to seriously re-think my support of Trump.

Pence, and his ilk, are supposedly what Trump has been running against to date.

LOL - asking the Morning Joe group to screen VP’s is like asking a jealous ex-wife to choose the new wife.

I think a smash mouth VP is what’s needed.

Christie does that.

In addition, he can use his prosecutorial background to hammer the Clinton Crime Family on a daily basis.

Don’t think the Dems can put up a brawler that can match Christie, particularly in a debate setting.

Would I be happy with Duncan Hunter from CA? (kid not the dad) - Yes.

Would I be happy with Jeff Sessions? Yes.

Don’t know enough about the Governor of Oklahoma, Fallin, but there’s a possibility there.

I like the TX Governor, Abbott, but he’s recovering from those horrible burn injuries, so his health comes first.

The more I hear of Pence, the more I would prefer Trump not go in that direction.

[Yes, he may support pro-choice, but we have serious problems in regards to national security and foreign affairs that we need a strong person for.]

So you are on record for being more concerned for your own safety than the lives of the unborn?

I will never support a ticket with either Flynn or Christie. Pence isn’t my first choice—Marsha Blackburn is—but I could support him.

That has got to be the stupidest response I have ever hear on social media...

Christie is tolerable because at least he is a Republican and pro-life. Also, he has been loyal to Trump, and he was one of the first to endorse him, and despite his colleagues, hasn’t bashed Trump to the media. He’s not my first pick, but I could live with him.

Flynn would be okay handling security, but I wouldn’t be okay with Flynn as VP. In fact, I hope he is given a security role.

Well forget General Flynn, the knives are out for him as he appears to be ‘pro-choice’, so he’s probably out. If someone wants a true pro-LIFE General, it’s former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Peter Pace (USMC retired), a fine moral leader with integrity that is unquestionable.

Pence isn’t going to generate any excitement, but at least he isn’t that fruit loop Kasich.

I’m warming up to the idea of perhaps a choice of North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory, he’s for Trump and has refused to knuckle under to the unisex-homo-bathroom crowd, he’s a down to earth guy.
