Trump-Pelosi showdown over shutdown first battle of new era
The Index-Journal ^ | December 31, 2018 | Lisa Mascaro and Zeke Miller, The Associated Press

Nancy Pelosi often quotes Abraham Lincoln saying public sentiment is everything. It's a theory that will be put to the test when the new House Democratic majority gavels in this week and votes to end the government shutdown without money for President Donald Trump's border wall with Mexico.

The high-stakes move to reopen the government will be the first big battle between Trump and Pelosi as Democrats come into control ready to reassert the power of the legislative branch and confront the White House.

Trump is counting on public support as he holds out for $5 billion to build the wall. He's signaled he's in no rush to give up on a signature campaign issue as he launches his own re-election bid in 2020. But Pelosi just as strongly believes the public will be on Democrats' side as they try to get government working again, and move on to health care and other priorities — including oversight of the White House....

An astute Freeper noted the other day, that the entire $21 Billion needed for the wall, is equal to about 1% of annual FedGov expenditures.

Trump needs to hammer that point home.

Nasty Nancy can shove it. Ron Singh died because of her open borders. If she ever passes a wooden stake should be her goodbye. Save one for chuck too.

If Trump wins this one (and he will), it's all over for Pelosi for the next 2 years.

The high-stakes move to reopen the government will be the first big battle between Trump and Pelosi as Democrats come into control ready to reassert the power of the legislative branch and confront the White House.

When Republicans have both houses of Congress (the actual legislative branch not simply the House), they say they cannot get things done because the filibuster rule in the Senate stands in the way even though it's phony and they could make the RATS actually filibuster or simply change it but they refuse to do either. When Republicans control just the House, they say they cannot get things done because they are only 1/2 of 1/3 of the federal government.

But when the RATS control just the House, suddenly it's the entire legislative branch in their control and the rest of the federal government as well as the country is subject to them. It's fine that they believe that, but why does everyone else believe it as well?

Trump's "Memorial Ron Singh Wall”....

Great idea....and it exposes open borders Pelosi in a way she would rather not be seen.

Great idea!

The Wall should be named to memorialize every American who has died at the hand of an illegal alien!

In fact, there should be a plaque at every Port of Entry naming and honoring them, like the Vietnam Memorial!

Not only that, FEDGOV (i.e., We Poor Suffering Taxpayers!) spend more each MONTH on food stamps than POTUS is asking for in this budget!

In fact, SNAP (food stamp) benefits cost $70.9 billion in fiscal year 2016.

Take the money FRom food stamps!

And BUILD THE WALL!
