Posted on 05/24/2020 8:48:11 AM PDT by SeekAndFind
House Republican leaders are expressing optimism about their chances to flip the House from Democrats to the GOP in November. Despite the challenges facing the party — challenges that almost all political pros from both parties agree are daunting — there may, indeed, be room for looking on the sunny side of the contest.
Most political experts dismiss Republican chances of winning back the House. They point to the 41 seats that flipped in the 2018 midterms, a record number of Republican retirements, and a big cash advantage for Democratic incumbents.
But a large number of those seats that flipped during the midterm aren’t going to be easy to defend — especially since many of those seats are in the heart of Trump country, National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) Chairman Tom Emmer (R-Minn.) explained.
Just do the math. There are 43 House Democrats sitting in more Republican seats than the one we just won in California last week. And remember, we now only need 17 to reclaim the majority, [Emmer] said. One of the reasons the House flipped [in] 2002 was because of the momentum that was created by special election victories.
Those special election victories in California and Wisconsin opened some eyes among the punditry. The California race was expected to easily go to the Democrat. But Mike Garcia won going away over a Democratic woman, Christy Smith. It was the first GOP flip of a Democratic House seat in California in 22 years.
And while Wisconsin’s Rep. Tom Tiffany was expected to win in a pro-Trump district, his 14-point victory was a surprise.
Emmer says the enthusiasm is spreading.

Then how could I type?
The heavy handed dem governors and other leaders made what was not likely now possible.
This virus may have handed us the house
Yes a few seats have been made vulnerable due to certain democrat governors.
President Trump struck political gold when he left the opening up to these buffoons
GOPe don’t want a majority. They like back room deals, not governing.

Yes! Oh, wait. I forgot about voter fraud, which nobody in power seems to care about. So Im changing my answer to No.
They need good candidates in any race that isnt held by a GOP incumbent. Its really that simple.
We worked near each other in Manhattan. First name basis /s
Though I met him in Rockefeller Plaza.
He shook my hand and was Very Nice. This was maybe 18 years ago.
I wonder if he remembers me? :)
I knew he was shrewd but I did not think he was conservative. He didn’t seem like the religious type either.
I am incredibly happy with how wrong I was.
If they win is one matter; the caliber of winners is another, and if they behave as they did under Ryno’s “leadership”, things will be back to square one.
No kidding. There should be a full court press attack with co-ordinated talking points (like the kind the DNC has had for years) attacking the DNC for their tyrannical, unconstitutional and downright UN-AMERICAN actions.
They should stay quiet on Biden’s racist flubs until he’s been coronated their candidate at their convention and then go full on to the wall about who the actual racists in this country are.
They lost the House in 2018. All were better than the Bolshies that took their place.
Can they!? They'd damn well better. And then they'd damn well better start clearing out the swamp and acting like vertebrates, or this will be the last election before We the People start the boogaloo and do it for them.
definitely! but the R’s will have to stop the usual D voter fraud.........sometimes there aren’t even any R poll watchers! not to mention all the other ways the D party cheats or rigs our elections (SorozNazi- funded puppet election officials, ballot harvesting, illegal voters, multiple voters, deceased voters, illegal multiple deceased voters, throwing ballots into the river, etc etc)
plus, a good number of people don’t bother voting because some of the R candidates don’t seriously campaign. The old-fashioned country club attitude (”I put my name on the ballot and now its up to the electorate to decide, I’m going to play golf now) is a LOSER. people want to see and hear the candidates and if a candidate doesn’t bother going to the people, a lot of people just figure s/he doesn’t really want to win.. and won’t...so why bother voting? (reference: Romney in 2016 throwing away his lead in the polls by simply folding his candidacy like a broken deck chair)...The R candidates have to CAMPAIGN!
The senate is my concern. Colorado and Arizona will flip. Montana, GA, NC, and Maine well have to defend. ,
No, patriots cannot regain control of the House and Trump will never be elected president. /sarc
YES. But we all have to vote!
“Only if they try, which hasn’t happened for a decade or more.”
Man, you got that right. I remember 2014, when everybody was mad as hell, and the GOP ran insipid gruelish drivel for ads up and down the ticket.
In spite of his promises to the contrary, Conor Lamb (D, PA-17) has turned out to be a Pelosi stooge.
I hope he’s defeated.
Truth be told I wasnt a big fan at first, of course I voted for him.
Now I would walk 100 miles thru hell to cast my vote and my wife even more so
I have been pleasantly surprised to say the least!
