Polls shows Johnson with 18 point lead
(Hamden-AP Oct. 17, 2002 7:30 AM)_ A Quinnipiac University poll shows Republican Congresswoman Nancy Johnson with an 18 point lead over Congressman Jim Maloney in the Fifth District Race.
The poll released today shows Johnson with 56 percent of likely voters over Maloney's 38 percent.
The poll shows that Johnson holds big leads over Maloney among women, men, Republicans and independent voters.
A University of Connecticut poll released a week ago showed Johnson with a 16 point lead.
The Quinnipiac poll of 393 likely voters was taken between October Sixth and 13th and has a margin of error of plus or minus five percentage points.

Oh my! [gasping for breath]
Thanks for putting the [CT-05] after the title, because at first glance I thought this was Tim Johnson of SD. Whew! :-)

That's two independent polls in about a week showing Johnson basically doubling her lead. If I remember correctly, she did have a significant financial advantage over Mahoney. Perhaps this movement reflects her financial resources paying dividends. If so, that's a great omen for Republicans nationwide, since overall they're in much better financial shape than the Dems.
