In the above photo; Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura speaks to the media after appointing Independent Dean Barkley as the senatorial replacement for Paul Wellstone at the governor's office in the state capitol in St. Paul, Minnesota, November 4, 2002.
Barkley ran for U.S. senate as an Independent Party candidate in 1994 and 1996. Wellstone was killed in a plane crash October 25. Ventura expressed anger at the press for ignoring the Independence Party. REUTERS/Eric Miller
Ventura wanted Barkely to be in the Monday debate with Mondale and Coleman. Right now, Governor Ventura and his staff, and the Secretary of State are trying to figure out if Dean Barkely will serve Minnesota in the Senate for just a couple of weeks, or until January with the start of a new legislative session.
I just found out today that in Minnesota, voters can register at their polling place, then step into the voting booth.
I am the Walrus.....cuckoo kachoo!
