It seems that the poster who started this thread was a DU disruptor.

He seems to be bragging in DU about his foray in FR

"The dark truth is, a lot of us grinned from ear to ear when we learned Limbaugh might have some kind of substance-abuse problem."

I knew that they did (grin from ear to ear)... I was remembering Bill Clinton running around with a cigar, hitting his drums in celebration after a favorable ruling in the Paula Jones case.

It's amazing that one of them came out and spoke the truth.

You know, if a well-known liberal had a problem like this--yes, there would be jokes (plenty of jokes!), but there would also many expressions of compassion and hope for that person's recovery. That's the big difference.

"The guy obviously listens to the show. His "impression" is pretty accurate."

That was my first thought. I haven't listened to Rush often enough to know how much he's talked about drug abuse and how much hypocrisy this therefore involves. But this guy has Rush's patter down pretty well.

Heard a guy on the radio here in Houston a few hours ago. He said he took 30 pills a day and nobody new it. Then he went on the describe the hell he went through trying to get off of them. Rush is going through hell right now but I promise you the treatment center is using some other kind of drugs to help him come down.

As for the hypocracy, I think Rush probably would have acted the way this article describes. However, we will never know that because clinton would never admit it if it does happen in the future. My complaint is with his defenders. They want to paint it as "different" because it's prescription. One, doctors don't prescribe 30 pills or more per day. Second, the NE had the goods 'cause they know Rush has the millions to sue them. Third, if Rush did NOT have the money to pay the asking price or if he couldn't get the prescription pills he would have switched to something else and he would have gone out on the street to get them if neccessary. Why do I say that? Because he is a drug addict by his own admission. May he admit defeat and ask God for help.

I, too, say he should be treated as any other person arrested for the same thing. And I believe that Rush is under investigation. I don't think he's under investigation due to his use. They are probably wanting to know what he did with the pills, if, in fact, he purchased as many as they were told he purchased. Again, I hope he's treated as a regular guy. I'm afraid, however, they will try to make an example out of him and that will be a shame.

You should read the book LEGACY. I'm reading it now and it explains how Clinton's first response is lie. If he's later confronted with indesputable truth he makes up another lie and stalls as long as he can. Eventually he says "That's old news". And the media buys it.

"Church Bus Crash Kills 7" - headline on CNN

I suspect the liberals are having a field day. First Rush, now this... can you say "perfect week"?

Qwinn

P.S. I don't make this stuff up. I know some truly sick atheist liberals who actively crack a smile whenever they hear of anything along the lines of that headline.

Did I miss something? Did this author ever say Rush would be wrong about Clinton if he said these things? Maybe he forgot. But the simple fact is this: Not only does he know what Rush would have said. He also knows exactly what Clinton would have said.

"He is bragging about this post right now."

Yep... He just said, "the free republic thread I made is up to 100 posts! A new record!"

What he doesn't realize is that we're all talking about Rush, not about him. In any case, FR is made up of tens of thousands, but DU is pathetically small.

btw, their little haiku signature line is really sick.

But let's not waste any more precious time on worrying about DU. Instead, let's focus our thoughts and prayers on Rush and his full recovery--I have faith he will make a full recovery and can't wait to hear him playing Mannheim Steamroller this Christmas (though I can't get him up here anymore)
:)

He's astonished because at DU, the only threads that reach over a hundred are Israel Bashing and Clinton worshipping ones.

All this talk about whether or not Rush was for legalizing drugs is stupid. The drug Rush became addicted to WAS legal. If there was a law passed that makes all drugs legal there would still be restrictions on how much a person could purchase.

Thanks for the compliments!

"It seems that the poster who started this thread was a DU disruptor."

Let him have his fun. Yeah, there's hypocrisy in this as far as Rush is concerned, but then we saw a lot of hypocrisy last week on the other side with the sexual-harrassment stuff against Schwarzenegger. The author of this piece did accurately represent how I think Rush would have reacted to a Clinton drug problem, but the people over in DU who are laughing about Rush should remember how Bill Clinton turned the country upside down for a whole year lying about something that could have been handled with dispatch and soon forgotten. Clinton unleashed a scorched-earth policy of retribution and lies and smears, dragged the whole country through the mire for a year, and the folks at DU are still kissing his ass. I don't think they have anything to laugh about.

"But the simple fact is this: Not only does he know what Rush would have said. He also knows exactly what Clinton would have said."

So are you claiming that Clinton would never have confessed in the first place? That he'd have been an addict AND he would have lied about it AND he wouldn't have been sorry?

If that's the case, all it proves is Rush is the better man. Kinda seems an odd thing to go to a rival site to proclaim. "Nyah nyah, Rush may be better than Clinton or anyone else we support, but we have conclusively proven after 15 years that Rush is not infallible!"

If we were arguing about the Pope's positions on dogma... perhaps that would matter...

*blink* Okay. If the position is that Rush did wrong, while admitting that Clinton and every other liberal hero would and does do far far worse and makes outrages defenses of the indefensible on a routine basis... I'll concede. I never really thought Rush was perfect to begin with. I'm happy enough being on the thoroughly less contemptible side of the debate.
