"On Friday, school officials decided to expel Kivi but not press criminal charges," reports Houston's KPRC-TV. Says Kivi: "I'm happy. Everything's final. I'm expelled till after Christmas and I can come back after Christmas, but I won't." He and Ferguson are both leaving Caney Creek High to be home-schooled.

15-year-old Brandon Kivi because he let his girlfriend, Andra Ferguson, use his asthma inhaler when she had an attack after forgetting to bring her inhaler to school.

The boy saved her life, so they expel him. This could only happen in a public school.

He and Ferguson are both leaving Caney Creek High to be home-schooled.

Good. They'll be suprised how much their life will improve.

"will not press criminal charges"

They had to THINK about this? Was she supposed to suffocate on the floor until the authority approved medics showed up with an inhaler?

The funny thing is that in the old days (50's and 60's), stupid authoritarian policies were commonly seen by the young as the practice of old Repubbies, WWI VFW members, (WWII veterans were still relatively young and cool), and sometimes the clergy.

Now it is the NEA backed educational system, which is relentlessly liberal and supposedly "anti-establishment" which is totally rigid and lacking in any common sense. Up with sympathy for the transgendered; any culture but white is better, you know the drill. But what ever the new anti-orthodoxy is, you better not buck it.

{Rant mode off, next after dinner wine glass readied.}

They'll be suprised how much their life will improve.

Not to mention their education.

If they thought they could get away with it, the NEA would install abortion clinics on every elementary-high school campus. They already promote unhealthy lifestyles to students. Yet, they pull this crap.

Zero tolerance is just a ruse to keep school administrators from having to make a judgement decision.
They are absolved of poor decision making when this rule is
in place. The best of both worlds: using the zero tolerance
rule to show their toughness and then sheilding their
cowardness behind the rule.
