Major advertiser pulling ads from LA Times

The Los Angeles Times has acknowledged that over one thousand subscribers have cancelled their subscriptions to the newspaper since they ran a series of "hit pieces" on Arnold Schwarzenegger during the last days of the recall election.
The damage to the newspaper may not end there though. Jeff Morris, owner of Wm. L. Morris Chevrolet in Simi Valley, California spoke on Tuesday's Hugh Hewitt Radio Show and announced that his dealership is pulling its advertising from the newspaper. Morris said that the company had recently met with the paper and agreed to a new advertising package, but that the apparent bias of the newspaper has caused him to cancel all advertising, at least for the short term.
The Times continues to shrug off reports of canceled subscriptions. Perhaps the loss of major advertisement revenue will cause the newspaper and its executive editor John Carroll, to see the world and perhaps even report it, as it really is.

All the major Department stores run full page adds. That would be Macy's Robinsons, etc. Very popular are sales promotions with clip out coupons.

I wonder if the car dealers have been seeing a decline in sales since the car tax tripled on October 1st. I remember seeing in the news that there was a spike in sales before that date, but I haven't seen any news about a slump in sales.
If sales decline, CA loses a lot of sales tax revenue.

Actually, I'm going to. I've never owned a Chevy before, but our next vehicle is going to be a Chevy Suburban diesel. (Diesels are exempt from smog checks in California)
And now I have decided to purchase it from Wm. L. Morris Chevrolet which is just down the road from us!

I hate media bias. I think the LA Times is guilty of it bigtime. However, I have some reservations about this piling on.
I am sure we are not condemning muckraking in general. And I feel sure we are not demanding perfectly equal balanced muckraking, because that is too high a standard.
I'll put it this way. I can only go along with this slamming of the LA Times to the extent that it became a mere tool of Gray Davis/Democrats.

"Buy a Corvette from him!"
A great recommendation! (I own one).

Why? The left uses economic boycotts regularly although not effectivly IMHO. Berkeley for example, boycotts anything and everything. The NAACP advocates boycotting states if they fly the confederate flag.
Jesse "The Pimp" Jackson has boycotted or threatened to boycott General Motors, Texaco, Toyotta etc, etc.
Homosexuals called for advertisers NOT to sponsor Dr. Laura.
Why should we unilaterally disarm?

Why should we unilaterally disarm?Disclaimer: I am not from California and therefore have limited standing on the LA Times issue.
I just wanted to register a worry. Extra heat on the LA Times will surely be spun as right-wing backlash. Those applying the heat should be careful to stick to principles to avoid that appearance.
October surprises are ugly journalism to start with. AND, it is true that the left-wing press has advantage of numbers. And this effect is even further magnified by the anti-Constitutional Campaign Finance Reform act. All that said, it is important to protect free campaign speech by both the press itself AND buying of ads by private individuals.
A newspaper should legitimately be able to expose truth in going after a public figure, whether popular or unpopular.
