or a single guy, it's healthier to be home staring at porn than going out and picking up a one night stand.

Well, while a scuff mark is preferrable to an oozing sore, the reality is that at least when you're going out, you're meeting real live people, as opposed to being shut in and by yourself. I think it's easier to just limit yourself at the bar to snagging just phone numbers than it is to try to meet real and interesting people who are bunkered in at home just like you.

I just think this is part of the whole negative effect of the internet - I myself, between work and home, was so glued into my computer a couple of years ago that I forgot just what a blessing it is to live in California, and all that this state has to offer. So I made a choice to turn off the computer, and have fun in the real world. (I've been freeping a fair amount the last few months, and I have to cut back again....)

So many people are plugged in, yet in the real ways that count, are very isolated from each other. Porn is just another aspect of this.

And on that note, it's time for me to get out and run!

picking up a one night stand.

Sounds like you are only speaking of those who are looking for sex, versus committment. And if that is a logical argument to you, then why not advocate that these men should hire prostitutes? What is the difference?

There are advantages.

The girls on the internet don't want to hear about your "feelings".

They don't want to snuggle afterward and never ask for foot rubs (unless it's a fetish site).

They don't mind if you click over to another site.

And they never get mad at you and try to take half of your stuff.

I guess it’s a long way from the time when you would keep a few Playboys’ under the mattress. I think I’m still in love with the honey on one of the covers that was wearing the Levi’s unzipped, and pulled almost all the way down to her #$%&^%*. I also seem to remember something to do with a Corvette on that cover.

If those young bucks prefer the Internet to the real deal I don’t get it. Is this a result of all this Mertosexuel crapola I’ve been hearing about?

...what constituted "Normal" vs. "perverted" sex...

I heard that the difference between "kinky" and "perverted" is:

Kinky is when you use a feather to pleasure a woman.
Perverted is when you use the whole chicken.

These days, she feels “very jaded about love and sex,”

Could explain why she can't find a man who wouldn't rather watch internet porn than listen to her complain.

This is a very interesting article. I believe porn online is going to revolutionize the way we think and act about sex. I really can't predict the consequences, but one would have to acknowledge that it will certainly have adverse consequences.

Although admittedly, some good comes from it (arousing desire in those less than ardent and instructional purposes) I can't help but think it will eventually desensitize and depersonalize (is that a word?) sexual relationships in otherwise loving couples.

I think we will continue to look for more unconventional ways to arouse ourselves - maybe like they did in Rome and Greece centuries ago - and you know what happened then....

I'm no prude by any means, but I can't help but think eventually this is not a good thing as we continue to push the envelope as a society..... What's next? Animals, children? (Oh, I forgot - it's already being advocated...._)

The more tragic issue is the fact that many parents allow kids of all ages to have a computer in their room. This has been an issue with all of our childrens friends. They all have one and access porn at will.

Ain't nothin' like the real thing!

I would agree that parents are really the key to how one interacts with pornography, either on-line, or off-line.

I have 3 computers in my house, I decided long ago that trying to parent guard the internet is a lost battle. I have found the best nany for my kids on their computer is me. I do a thing called parent supervision, some people should try it. What you do is take part in your childs activities and interests, be with them at the computer help them surf the net, and have a finger on alt and a finger on F4, nothing faster for those nasty pop ups.

Shoot, picking up chicks isn't that hard, and with some of these dudes resumes they should be having fun pushin' the BS.... Oh well, the less competition the better... the fewer men the easier it is to achieve the laurel crown.

I agree, it will normalize sexuality in society and remove much of it's taboos... however, at what cost. Unless, the FTC or the FCC come in and regulates the content online.

It could be argued that computers are a flawed product that when reasonably used, produce harmful material that hurt many of it’s users.

If I were a lawyer, I'd be suing all the CPU manufactuers, Google, and Yahoo.
