"Self-righteousness is a temptation which is ever near."

I never said I was righteous. I simply said Reagan wasn't. That is enough to set on edge the teeth of any "conservative."

As O'Reilly says, "you can have the last word."

Hey, think about your commments for a moment. On these threads, most Catholics are more likely to react viscerally to negative comments directed against Reagan or Bush than they are against the Pope?

Indicative of anything?

BTW: I didn't attack the Pope in the first place. I should have pointed this out before.

I said you took a shot at him - you did.

I don't think you do yourself any favors by keeping this alive. Why not just admit you acted without sufficient reflection? Heck, I do that virtually every post.

I have to apologise all the time. It is easy for me. I have had plenty of opportunities and so it is a habit.

If it is difficult for you, that prolly just indicates it a rare task you have to undertake.

I didn't make any sort of personal attack on the Pope. I said nothing about him that was disrespectful of him personally, or that cast doubt on his authority as Pope. I didn't say anything that was the least bit offensive or malicious. So I have nothing to apologize for. You took offense at what I said, and you have "kept this alive" by insisting that I should apologize.

I am the obviously the one who owes an apology. Sorry, Fr. You were correct as a priest to take a superfluous shot at the Holy Father on his Anniversary.

There. I hope that settles the matter.
