N.Y. Times Columnist: Fox News Is Bush's Al Jazeera
NewsMax ^ | 10/16/03 | Limbacher

Premier New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman attacked the Fox News Channel on Thursday, comparing the top-rated cable news network to the pro-terrorist Al Jazeera broadcasting company.

Using a recent speech by Vice President Dick Cheney to argue that the Bush administration is too narrow-minded in its handling of postwar Iraq, Friedman complained, "Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein issue messages from their caves through Al Jazeera, and Mr. Cheney issues messages from his bunker through Fox."

"Out of fairness, my newspaper feels obligated [to cover the Cheney speech]," the top Times columnist wrote. "But I wish we would have said to the V.P.: If you're going to give a major speech on Iraq to an audience that's limited to your own supporters and not allow any questions, that's not news."

Friedman's suggestion that Fox News is the White House's Al Jazeera network is particularly odd, since Fox broke the story that nearly cost President Bush the 2000 election - the notorious 1976 DUI episode.

Fox's owner, NewsCorp Chairman Rupert Murdoch, supported Al Gore in the 2000 election and contributed $50,000 to the Gore campaign.

Friedman's slap at Fox's credibility comes despite that fact that earlier this year, his paper admitted to publishing stories by a journalist known to have repeatedly fabricated previous reports for the Times.

Ahhhhh, I love the smell of a good ole liberal "snit-fit" in the morning...means we are doing something right.

Humph!!! The New York Slimes is the DNC news network. I'm not sure we should link the NYT with Pravda. Pravda never went as low as NYT level of hypocrisy.

This guy represents the worst of the Stalinist wing of the demonrat party. Lies, half-truths, fabrications are fine as long as you see things his way; shine the light of truth HIS crapola, and he screams like a stuck pig. He hates this country.

And, there are few in the media who love themselves more than this +sswipe.

He considers the Vice President in the same breath as Bin Laden.

He's either an idiot or a traitor.

My guess: traitor.

Isn't Friedman the snitch who blew the whistle on the black guy, or "schwartze," as he called him?

This is just the continuous bitterness of the Democrats desperation. Just like Teddy's little rant today, insulting someone is clearly a sign of desperation.

Question - if the terrorists could vote in next years election, who do you think they would vote for?? I have asked my Liberal collegues this over and over and they have no response.

I hate to break this news to the liberal slime who lurk these pages wondering what the right thinks, but to many conservatives, Fox News is just another infotainment channel with the same modus operandi of the others i.e. CNN, where what passes for "news" are those stories that generate ratings and produce money from commercial time regardless of any real importance or relevance. Fox has Greta, Whoraldo, and plenty of other mushy minded individuals to keep "both sides" entertained. FNC a tool of the Right? Hardly.

Thomas Friedman is AMERICAN PRAVDA

The New York Times, La Times, NBC, CBS, ABC and CNN with MSNBC (mostly), are the DNC's hitlerian propagandists. And they are meeting the anger of the American people right as I type this.

Oh but the TRUTH HURTS!

The only surprising thing about this story is that Friedman casts Al Jazeera in an unfavorable light. Is anyone really surprised about the swipe at Fox from such a lefty spokesman?
