As a matter of fact, I have been naughty. I'm fueding with the old fool democrat nextdoor who begins each morning at 8:00AM with a power tool --- legal yes, but not condsiderate.

This afternoon I gave him a dose of the Rolling Stones's "Satisfaction" during his nap time. Awaiting a response. :)

Catch you later, I'm off to Ralph's.

LOL. That neighbor has no idea what he's dealing with here. LOL.

You shouldn't have any trouble finding a place to park at Ralph's today. ;-)

When I think of unions the things that mostly come to my mind are lazy government employees, thick-necked morons with lead pipes and baseball bats, and how the baseball players who make 1.2 million dollars per year almost destroyed the game a few years back. It may be unfair to judge all unions on the basis of these sterotypes, but I can't help it.

I wouldn't go out of my way to cross a picket line, but I won't let it stop me from going in the store either.

No one is forced to join a union.

Not exactly the whole story.....

In MA, if you work in a union shop you have to pay the union dues. Since you're already paying, why NOT join so you can at least vote? It's what happened to me.

Well, doesn't politics make strange bedfellows sometimes? ROFL.

Tell your neighbor he must be going to bed way too early to be up at 8:00 working with power tools! Maybe you should give him some "Satisfaction" at 11:00 p.m. when he's trying to sleep.

And, please, onyx, try to behave yourself. ;-)

Well, she's a Safeway employee, ....and I don't really recall them striking against Safeway very often

My first ever scab was at a Safeway in Seattle. But that was many years ago....

Why can't the government's accounting offices compile yearly data on a yearly basis? Did they run low on pencils and have to share?

I think it has to do with government bureaucracy's inability to keep up with technology.
Just a guess, but I would think reporting procedures are probably completely outdated, so businesses tend to report their accounting data slowly.
Even small businesses tend to do a "preliminary" monthly and running yearly report that takes 30 days.
Then a full accounting of outstanding accounts must still be done, which will generally take another 30 days, minimum.
Due to income tax regulations, they then can take additional time to fine tune returns, and may file for a late return in order to amend their final statement.

So, the Fed's information operates on the "trickle up" theory.
I doubt whether the government agency's 10 year old computer systems help either.

We're lucky to get any information at all.

I am sure the idiots who are showing "solidarity" with the union thugs will be the first to bitch and moan when their grocery bills go up.

Not if they can find a way to get groceries cheaper. They will do their grocery shopping at Wally World and it will never occur to them that they have done something a thousand times more harmful to the strikers than crossing their picket lines.

Food Lion, yet another example of Europe siphoning cash from the huge (and, by implication, unfair) US wealth. Yes, its incorporated in DE, but its a European company.

"What is minimum wage anyways?"

Beats me. All I know, is that it is more than $5.00 an hour and keeps rising. I think it is more than $6.00 an hour here in California.
