Prevent Florida State Senator James King From Blocking Terr's Law
October 20, 2003 | nickcarraway

Posted on 10/20/2003 2:04:32 AM PDT by nickcarraway

Florida Governor Jeb Bush is finally pursuing a course to save the life of Terri Schiavo. Governor Bush is calling a special session of the Florida legislatureon Monday to pass legislation that he worked on with Florida Speaker of the House Johnnie Byrd. ``Terri's Bill'' would immediately suspend all dehydration and starvation deaths in the state.

LifeNews.com, however is reporting that one man is the greatest obstacle to this happening, Florida Senate President Jim King, the man who controls the state Senate's agenda.

It's obviously important that we contact all state representatives, Senators, and other parties, but it is absolutely critical we put the pressure on Senator King!

Senator James E. "Jim" King, Jr.is the state Senator from Florida's district 8, which covers parts of Duval, Flagler, Nassau, St. Johns, and Volusia counties. Especially if you live in his district, please call him and tell him that he needs to listen to Governor Bush and Speaker Byrd and put this on the agenda tomorrow. Tell him you think this bill needs to be passed ASAP. And call any relatives or friends you have who live in that district to call (or email) him. Right now, he may be the one person with the most power to stop this bill. Let's let him know it needs to get passed. He needs some serious Freeping!

You can read more about this on these threads:

Florida Legislature Plans Special Session That May Help Terri Schiavo

Speaker of the House, Johnnie Byrd to introduce “Terri’s Bill”

LIVE FROM TERRI'S VIGIL - EMERGENCY - LEGISLATIVE SESSION - CALL FLORIDA REPS NOW!!

PLEASE HELP TERRI - A BILL IS BEING INTRODUCED TOMORROW

They were all laughing, having fun.

Don Joe, what about his "new mother-in-law"? That is another work in progress. She is "supervising" Terri's death while Michael and Jody do whatever they do.

Byrd's office (according to a phone call reported by another FReeper) denies that he was ever involved in writing such a bill. At this point, I suppose the details hardly matter as far as Terri's imminent death by dehydration is concerned.

What? The bill never existed?

There are too many billions of dollars at stake. If commercial killing is outlawed, there will be a major financial penalty, and these people are NOT about to accept that

That is an awful statement. I suppose you have proof to back it up? Billions, yeah right. What is the industry by the way? You kooks are willing to do and say anything. You are on the same level as Joe McCarthy investigating commies under every rock.

What specifically, if anything, is Senator King doing to obstruct this?

Or is this only a supposition that he plans to interfere?

Yes It does. Both abortion and euthanasia come out of the same "Enlightenment" philosophy (of French origin of course
GARBAGE usually is) that says that the Bible is not the revelation of God, that man is just another animal and therfore that there is no special sanctitity to human life.
By the way the French were actually a little more humane than what is going on now with the "Enlightenment" death culture. They used to DROWN their "useless eaters" in their "Enlightenment" spawned revolution not STARVE and DEHYDRATE them.

I don't think we really know yet. There's been a lot of conflicting information. Another FReeper called Byrd's office earlier and was told by his assistant the Speaker had not written, nor would be introducing anything about Terri. She did say that he would support such a bill if it was introduced. On the other hand, I just read an Associated Press report on another thread that has quotes from Senator Byrd about how the legislators were discussing the issue in this special session. Several FReepers were tuned into the legislative session today via radio and TV and the fact is nothing about Terri was discussed. All the news about Terri is very confusing today.

Every office I Called told me how sympathetic they were to the situation, how sorry they were for Terris cause, and how if they could change the law they would, but there hands are tied.

But don't you realize that's how the game it played. They're politicians, ya know. They make like they are so concerned with your problem so you'll vote for them. In reality they're only concern is their own ego. The more votes they garner, the bigger the ego boost. Nothing more, nothing less. They're all Bubba and Shrillary, just in different clothes.

Well, I've got a Health Care Directive (a.k.a. "living will") and a Health Care Power of Attorney. I'd hate for my state to suddenly decide that it knew my desires better than me. If I were in Terri's position, I'd hope my spouse would execute my wishes and pull the plug.

"...Both abortion and euthanasia come out of the same 'Enlightenment' philosophy..."

http://www.lifesite.net/ldn/printerfriendly.php

"...In his 1997 book, "Origins of Nazi Genocide", Henry Friedlander documented the Nazi programme of euthanasia, called T4, that began with the collusion of the medical establishment and the courts, starting in the early thirties.

Disabled rights activists are attempting to create the same level of awareness of the rising trend towards killing the disabled in our own time, in modern hospitals, using exactly the same Nazi-style rhetoric of "mercy killing" as justification. The language of "mercy" is used constantly by Michael Schiavo who has been trying for ten years to have his disabled wife Terri killed by starvation by the removal of a feeding tube, the only "life support" she needs.

Alex Schadenberg, director of Canada's Euthanasia Prevention Coalition, said that the dehumanizing of victims is the first step in the euthanasia process. "It is no surprise that Tracy Latimer's symptoms were always described in terminology used for animals in pain. Robert Latimer was praised and defended as noble and compassionate for having gassed her."

Similarly eugenic abortions are spoken of as "curing diseases" and at times 'merciful' procedures. The link between the Nazi eugenics movement and the abortion movement is more than ideological. Planned Parenthood foundress Margaret Sanger shared her eugenic ideals with the Nazi's in the early 1930s. Due to the negative press over her association with the Nazi's Sanger changed the name of her organization from the Birth Control League to Planned Parenthood..."

Call it "Terri' Bill" in her honor, but don't bother honoring her by letting it apply to her! I just love politicians!

I'm afraid the Terri Bill is a hoax. Someone here off handedly mentioned there ought to be a Terri Bill and low and behold the very next day jeb has a Terri Bill ready for the special session. Sick. Just plain sick of whomever started this rumor.

The U.S. Congress sure acted fast enough to stop funding for enforcement of the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals order to remove Judge Moore's TC's monument. Legislatures make law and they can do it at the drop of a hat if they want to. And it can be retroactive.

There isn't really a plug to pull. She was just on a feeding tube. Now she's starving to death even though she is awake, alert, and not recieving any pain meds. (her parents were worried that they were giving her too much morphine because she wasn't responding the day after the starvation started so the husband stopped all pain meds whatsoever)

Non-sequitur. Terri Schiavo has no such Directive or living will. All there is is the word of her hateful husband who stands to inherit a large chunk of the settlement given to Terri for her rehab. and medical care.

Schiavo, the judge, and Jeb Bush will be dealt with. Maybe not on our schedule, but I would not want to be in their shoes when they stand before God himself to explain themselves.

I've thought so too. It may not be today or tomorrow, but one day justice will be served. There is truth in "you reap what you sow." I've seen it happen in my own family.

King: Legislature may act to save Terri Schiavo

Associated Press, October 20, 2003 - 06:46 PM
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. Senate President Jim King said Monday that he will propose legislation this week that could save the life of a severely brain-damaged woman whose feeding tube was removed last week by her husband's order.

I have seen it first hand. Example. My brother died in an accident many years ago. I was still in school. I was coming home from school and one kid in my grade started to make fun of the fact that my brother had died only 4 months before. I just looked at him, never said a word, never said "I hate you" nothing like that. Well, 4 years later his brother was hit by a tractor-trailer and killed instantly. This is an absolute true story.

Jeez, here we go again. Someone came in at half time and doesn't even know who's playing. Not making light of Terri's plight but come on, at this late day ignorance of the situation is no excuse. Bottom line is Terri left no written instructions so that's moot. Loving hubby whined in a malpractice suite that he would use any money awarded to help in her rehab even though he refused any and all treatment from day one through to today. Two weeks after being awarded the boat load settlement he suddenly remembered she'd told him, but not her family, she didn't want to be hooked up to machines and so began his campaign to end her life.
