Status Update: Opposing Terror Supporters' Meeting at OSU

The coalition working to oppose the Palestinian Solidarity Movement's (PSM) November 7th - 9th planned conference at Ohio State University (OSU) has made some great strides. Approximately 9,200 emails have been sent to OSU and Ohio officials voicing opposition to the conference. Over 1,000 OSU alumni have signed a petition asking the university to cancel the conference. Over 10,000 Ohio residents have signed a petition asking the Ohio Governor Taft to cancel the conference.

Our efforts have led many newspapers to cover the planned conference. Unfortunately, most reporters have whitewashed the PSM. Their news stories have failed to mention the PSM's ties to terrorists, its illegal activities, and its support for terrorism (in its own words). There are several exceptions, namely an article published in the Cleveland Plain Dealer and one in New Jersey's Star-Ledger.

netWMD's campaign has resulted in Ohio Governor Taft releasing an unequivocal public condemnation of the PSM, where he states that the group "condones terrorism and should be opposed by civilized people everywhere."

Despite our successes, I am deeply troubled to find that most people don't want to do anything, and many of the people who want to do something want someone else to take the risk and do the work. For example, Ohio's Jewish Federations have bent over backwards to rationalize their inaction regarding the PSM conference. It is a sad state of affairs when people put political correctness before the safety of their own state's citizens, and before the survival of the Israel.

netWMD has issued a press release detailing the TRUTH about the PSM. Our press release is not emotional grandstanding; it is thoroughly documented.

It would be a great help if netWMD readers would distribute this press release to any and all interested in the PSM conference. Please especially send a link or the press-release itself to anyone you know in the media:

Please also send an email voicing your opposition to the PSM conference. If you live in Ohio, please sign this petition. If you are an OSU alumni, please sign this petition.

I can't believe how much compacency there is regarding the war on terror -- deep in the heartland.

Have an email address and/or URL for the Ohio JF?

Read these "Talking Points" from the Cleveland Jewish Federation to see how they're rationalizing inaction. Contact info shown below:
