Who is John Mellencamp, and why should I listen to him or care what he says? Seriously, who is he?? Dittoes to both questions: who or what is a John Mellencamp, and who cares what he /she / it says?

Oooooh, John Cougar Mellencamp, that really hurts!
To: veronica
John needs to go back to doing his Farm Aid Concerts. Thinking is not one of his strengths.

What a shame... John Cougar used to sing about small towns and being an American. Turns out he's another attention starved liberal.

I'm ashamed to say John Mellencamp is from the state of Indiana. He's lives in my home town, my daughter went to school with one of his sons.

"Professionally, we, the Mellencamps, have the opportunity to travel extensively,"
Well, John ought to do exactly that- go to Iraq an see for himself who's been lying!
I defy him to return with as much bottled up contempt, as he exhibits in this mis-informed 'open letter'.

In every interview I've seen of John (formally Cougar) Mellonhead, I'm always struck at how genuinely stupid and immature he is, no matter what the topic. His songs are overly sentimental drivel anyways.
To: veronica
How is it that he hasn't been recalled? Well, Mellencamps obvious lack of understanding in basic civic understanding doesnt suprise me...
Any other made up federal processes John cares to make up?

"Take it back from political agendas, corporate greed."
He is expressing a pol agenda and he made his fortune from monolithic greedy record corporations.
He is informed on these two issues.
I will join him when he gives away his corporate fortune...

Another blackball for me. Too bad-I really liked the song Human Wheels and other selected works-although some of his stuff comes off as cheesy. On my honeymoon driving through Arizona we used Human Wheels as the music in the background in our own little video heading to Sedona-had a cool effect with us driving through the desert in marital bliss laughing and smiling etc...
Yet another boycotted musician and/or hollywood type for me. Stick to music. I don't respect your political credentials mister Couger-CougerMellencamp, Mellencamp. Or stick with issues you know a little better than foriegn policy., like Farm Aid.

Seriously, who is he?? A minor, very minor rocker with a rather interesting history. He was first introduced in the late 70s, if memory serves, by Columbia Records, as a synthetic pop idol named "Johnny Cougar". That campaign failed, so Columbia renamed him "John Cougar". That failed too and Columbia (again from memory) gave up. But the kid was tenacious, even if he wasn't very talented (I recall all the scathing reviews at the time) and remade himself as a sort of poor man's Bruce Springfield (songs for and about the working men) under his given name.

He was a lot better when he was "John Crappit Melonhead".

*****The song 'To Washington' was met with criticism and was labeled an anti-war song. *****
Actually Johnnyboy no one cares about your stupid song.
