My memory of the story when it happened...I had never heard his name before that.

It is possible that CBS doesn't care if it makes money on this or not. Their goal may be simply to have the film made so it can be available for schools to show to indoctrinate (oops educate) students....similar to the multi-part CNN series on the Cold War with its moral equivalence between the gulag and Kent State.
