'Gay' adoptions gaining favor?
Family group calls new survey homosexual 'propaganda'

A study released yesterday asserting adoption agencies are more willing than ever to place children with homosexual couples is "propaganda" circulated by the 'gay' community, charges a Washington, D.C., family advocacy group.
According to the study by the Evan B. Donaldson Adoption Institute, 60 percent of U.S. agencies accept applications from homosexual men and women, and 40 percent already have made such placements.
However, Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, insists the survey has an inherent bias, noting the first page of its findings state it was funded by the Rainbow Endowment, one of the largest pro-homosexual activist organizations.
"To put it bluntly, this 'survey' is a fraud," said Perkins in a statement. "It amounts to little more than propaganda being circulated by the gay community itself."
The survey said 19 percent of the agencies contacted say they deliberately seek homosexuals as adoptive parents or advertise as "gay friendly."
Perkins argues the survey had a small sample size, with 41 percent of the agencies contacted responding.
"With the knowledge that agencies who are receptive to homosexual adoption would be the most apt to respond to the survey, it is impossible to declare that this study is based on scientific fact," he contended.
What the science does tell us, Perkins maintains, is "children raised in homosexual households are more likely to experiment with homosexuality, to be sexually promiscuous and to have behavioral and many other developmental problems."
"Rather than worrying about a homosexual adult's desire to be a parent, we should be concerning ourselves with what is in the best interest of the child," he said.
Perkins continued: "Children are not guinea pigs to be used in social experiments that aim to redefine the institutions of marriage and family. They are vulnerable individuals with vital emotional and developmental needs. To intentionally deprive them of a mother or a father by placing them in homosexual households is unconscionable."
The study said the most likely agencies to accept applications from homosexuals are non-religious private groups or public agencies and those focusing on special needs or international adoptions. The research did indicate, however, Jewish- and Lutheran-affiliated agencies also were more open to homosexuals adopting.
The report comes amid intense debate over attempts by homosexual activists to establish "gay marriage."
Momentum in Congress for a constitutional amendment defining marriage as between a man and a woman has picked up since the U.S. Supreme Court struck down Texas' anti-sodomy laws in June.
I am absolutely against gay marriage, or any type of legal arrangement allowing gay couples the same status. I am absolutely appalled that gay couples are allowed to adopt children. The gay lifestyle is not one that children should witness in the home, and should not be raised to believe is natural.
Children are created by the union of a man and a woman: It is Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve. If you want to raise children - do it the right way.
