There will also be an first organizational meeting for the gun club Sunday Nov 2 at 8 pm. Call Aaron for details.

Many of you know that I'm a staunch 2nd amendment advocate who has never touched a firearm. I'm glad this club has formed, and hope to be a part of it. I may also report on the Nov 16 event, so I hope see a lot of FReepers there!

For those who may not be aware, Hebron the town in Israel where the Patriarchs are buried. Unfortunately, the Israeli gov't has relinquished most of it to the Arabs. A brave saving remnant of Jews remain to populate the town and safeguard the graves. The club want to show its support for those strong people.

Good luck, you will be hooked.

I hope everyone has a wonderful time.

I do have to say that for 180 dollars to shoot at paper targets, I love Texas.

Actually, at least half of the $180 is a charity donation to help the beseiged Israeli residents of Hebron, Israel. Many Jewish events and donations are a multiple of 18, which is the numeric value of the "chai," the Hebrew word for life.

It seems to me that 180 bucks is pretty cheap considering that they are supplying the firearms, the ammo, dinner, and range officers.

I'm going to let my brother in Ft. Lee know about this. He may want to go.

Make it a little more fun. Start collecting plastic soda bottles and fill them with water. Or try water balloons. There are a lot of targets that can be fun without making a mess. You could even set up some exploding targets at 100 yards for someone to try standing with a rifle. Gunshops sell the exploders. http://www.thewarbirds.com/Main%20Page/Warbirds%20BXPX/Ammo%20Dump/Specialty%20&%20Other/bullz_i_exploding_targets.htm

Reactive targets such as steel plates that knock down, water jugs and bottles, oranges or apples and anything that could please a crowd.

It gives the spectators something to watch.

You can also offer a video of the experience for a free door prize.

The world is a funny place. Offer it for free and no one would go. Make it 180 dollars and they beat your door down.

It's actually not the money. It's the paper targets. If I had to go back doing only that, I would be bored silly.

If your brother does go, tell him to bring about 200 water balloons.

I forgot. Buy a couple of cases of Clay Targets from skeet shooting. You can get a case for less than ten dollars. Just leave them on the berm and shoot them. They have a nice splatter and the rain dissolves them.

Mrs. L and I save all of our gallon milk jugs for just that purpose.

They make great 'reactive' targets and even at 300 yards there's no question whether or not you've hit it. Add a little food coloring and you've got an afternoon of rocking good fun.

When the local Aldi has really cheap generic soda, say 10 cents a can, we stock up on that for the same purpose. Warm cans of soda given a good shake or two blow up real good when hit squarely with a high velocity round.

Plus, it's all recyclable making the whole excersize environmentally friendly as well.

Regards,

L

Pumpkins can be very disappointing. There can be too much air in them and that reduces the hydrostatic shock.

I still have a fantasy of using a Christmas tree for a target. The multiple little targets with the lighting sounds ideal.
