Pali Rally a success (operation infinite FReep)
Posted on 11/02/2003 3:13:37 PM PST by BostonianRightist
It was a fine, 75 degree, November day yesterday in Boston.
JMT576 told the Massachusetts crowd of a Palestinian protest at the Park Plaza Hotel, and 4 FReepers showed up. The Pali's gathered because of a Conference inside the hotel discussing the peace process. The conference was held yesterday because it was the 86th anniversary of the Balfour Declaration.
The rally was planned for 4 to 8, so myself, JMT, and JMT's freind showed up at 3:30. I went dressed as Nephew Sam: a costume I bought a few days ago, complete with a 3x5 flag on a 7 foot pole. JMT brought a few signs from ProtestWarrior.com
We moved to the front entrance of the Hotel, where Jacket and DJJava joined us. They brought their hillarious signs.
We were approached by a few members of the conference, some gave us the thumbs up. We quickly realized, however, that we did not agree with the Pali's or the conference. The conference wanted a "Peaceful co-existence," which we realize is impossible (this view may contradict view of FreeRepublic.com). From then on we told the conference members we were not there to support them, but to oppose the Pali's.
The Pali's were chanting "Palestine will never die" and a few others. We retorted with "Palestine was never alive" and "there is no Palestine."
I kindly obliged to any picture requests, quite a few lovely ladies wanted a picture with Nephew Sam.
A father and son duo came and went throughout the rally, they chanted "Am Yisrael Chai" (long live Israel), which really annoyed the Pali's. JMT worked hard and almost surely convinced the son, a student at Brandeis University, to join Free Republic.
As the time wore on, the opposing side (which had 35 members, tops) got more quiet (quieter?). This gave us a chance to be more personal. At this time I threatened to call INS, one guy freaked out and started telling me to call INS (jokingly). I called information for INS's number, but there wasn't a toll free number on the weekends. JMT told me that one of the loud protesters was a professor at Boston University. I called her by name and asked if BU knew she supported terrorism. She freaked out and stepped back for a few minutes.
JMT had a bit of a situation with a man (woman?). Care to elaborate, JMT?
DJJava and Jacket took some pictures, hopefully they'll post them.
the presence of Guinnessboy, Little Bill, and Electric Strawberry was missed.

reccomendation for you guys:
Dont worry about being blunt, but dont be vulgar
You not only represent yourself, but you also represent the groups you say you are with
While I might think something awful of the intifada, to openly print out on a sign what you did, that will turn more people off to FR than attract.
Same with the nuke sign, you are openly calling for their death, better to call for Israel's right to defend themselves
To: djjava
Thanks for the report and the photos and, most of all, thanks for being there.

Good comments, Race.

EVEN A STOPPED CLOCK IS RIGHT TWICE A DAY :)
To: RaceBannon
Race, you were a Marine, don't they use a 24 hour clock? Then wouldn't your clock only be right once a day?
not to say you have a stopped clock, of course.
Good comment, but our intention was solely to annoy the Pali's. I know nuking a palestinian state is absurd; however, it really pissed off a few of our opposition, so i would call it a success.

...ok, once...(groan...)
To: BostonianRightist; RaceBannon
I agree with BostonianRightist... sometimes we have to be absurd to be heard. Of course we don't actually condone the nuking of a palestinian state (ok, maybe thats a lie), but then again, would a sign that said "NO PALESTINIAN STATE" turned any heads?
It's all about pissing them off... which we were successful. In the past, other MassFreepers haven't worried about the signs we print, i.e, "Howard Dean is a Fairy"
All tho you can't fight fire with fire... but it was a heck of a lot of fun anyways.. :-)

It looks like you did an excellent job.
re the comments "we support bombings if that's what it takes"; any pictures of the women who you thought may have been "organizers"?
Sounds like you may have crossed with Charlotte Kates, and /or other members of the Rutgers pro-terr leadership who have made the same comments publicly before.
PS - Only way I could get into your site to read the account was at:

Was this her?

Pictured with Boston University nominee Dr. Lana Habash (center) are left to right, Patrick O'Grady, Pfizer Labs; Ray Wright, Steere Pharmaceuticals; Susan Donnelly, Roerig Pharmaceuticals; Dr. Larry Culpepper, Director, Department of Family Medicine; and Troy Rothman, Alta Pharmaceuticals.
How about this genius, Abe Greenhouse? Was he there? (he might have looked a little worse for wear, as he got the daylight beaten out of him when he was arrested for pie-ing Israeli MK Natan Sharansky last month at Rutgers...

It does seem a bit like her; contact lenses really do change a persons whole appearence. plus, she really freaked out when i called her "Lana" and "Dr. Habash."
who knows, but we do need to get a picture to send to BU. there will be plenty of oppurtunities.

I don't agree, Boston is not NY or DC, this issue is not political but survival, things that would affect the sensibilities of the passer byes in those cities attract people in this city.
People have strong oppinions up here and they should be stated as long as they are not profane, review the pictures that you took 3/29 along with those that lev posted. We on the Right have Been TOO Bill Buckley for too long.
The time for debate is over, either They Rule Or We Restore The Constitution it comes down to that. I don't like profanity, racism, or threats of violence, but a tit for tat I have no problem with.

Little Bill, I couldn't agree more!
It's all about survival these days. I think the good reaction that we get in Boston is due precisely to the fact that the freaks know that we are as serious about this as they are. And it scares the hell out of them...

If there was a nail to hit, than you hit it on the head. In this case, we had to had fight fire with with. Our 5-6 people strongly competed against their 30something people because of our tone and bluntness.

RaceBannon is a friend, but there has been a discussion of tactics that has been going on since I started lurking on this site in '97.
At this time we represent FReeRepublic at large, mainly because we cannot get enough people to put together a formal chapter. Each area has to form a set of rules that fits the political cast of the State that we FReep in. I have no problem with DC rules in NY or DC, but Mass is my place and I know the people and the politics, we have done well in the last 2.5 years.
As Electric said a while back, distilled, you give, you get, you guys did a great job.
