You posted a link to a copy of a letter from a Congressman (not a medical scientist) recommending a doctor for a Nobel Prize in medicine.

All this proves is that a Congressman wrote a letter.

Was the letter sent to the Nobel nomination committed?

Was the letter received by the Nobel nomination committee?

Was Dr. Hammesfahr's nomination accepted by the Nobel nomination committee?

Where is the letter from the Nobel nomination committee accepting Dr. Hammesfahr's nomination for the Nobel Prize in medicine?

Somehow, Dr. Hammesfahr failed to prove that his nomination was received and accepted by the Nobel nomination committee, after being given ample opportunities by Judge Greer:

A lot of the time also was spent regarding his nominations for a Nobel Prize. While he certainly is a self-promoter and should have had for the court's review a copy of the letter from the Nobel committee in Stockholm, Sweden, the truth of the matter is that he is probably the only person involved in these proceedings who had a United States Congressman recommend him for such an award. Whether the committee "accepted" the nomination, "received" the nomination or whatever, it is not that significant.

What is significant, however, and what undemises his creditability is that he did not present to this court any evidence other than his generalized statements as to the efficacy of his therapy on brain damaged individuals like Terry Schiavo. He testified that he has treated about 50 patients in the same or worse condition than Terry Schiavo since 1994 but he offered no names, no case studies, no videos and no tests results to support his claim that he had success in all but one of them.

And of course we know that 'medical scientists' are all-knowing and all-powerful...

Where is the letter from the Nobel nomination committee accepting Dr. Hammesfahr's nomination for the Nobel Prize in medicine?

The term "Nobel Prize nominee" is relatively meaningless, since there are no meaningful enforced qualifications for nomination. Unlike, say, the Oscar® brand awards for motion pictures, where the "nomination" process pre-selects a small number of the best entries, the Nobel Prize "nomination" means nothing beyond the fact that somebody thought it worth entering the nominee into the competition.

I would expect that the Nobel Prize Committee probably does acknowledge nominations, but that such acknowledgement is probably nothing more than "Dear XXX: This is to confirm receipt of your submission regarding YYY and the Nobel Prize in Medicine" or somesuch.

I have no idea whether the congressman who nominated this doctor had good cause for doing so; what should be relevant is why this congressman thought the doctor worthy, rather than the fact that he was "nominated".

For those of you looking for legal documents...

https://pubtitles.co.pinellas.fl.us/login/loginx.jsp?goto=/mainmenux.jsp

I found all legal documents filed here. Go in as non subscription, and do a search for Schiavo.

Thanks, EV! I guess that clears that up for the trolls that claim there is no such nomination for the 'noble'= Nobel award.

The reason this came up is that Felos et. al. were claiming that Hammesfahr made up the fact that he was nominated. I even heard one of the talking heads say there wasn't any such thing as a nomination process.

But the fact is he was nominated and it is a legitimate nomination.

The procedure for nomination is given here:
http://www.nobel.no/eng_com_nom.html

"Any one of the following persons is entitled to submit proposals:

members of national assemblies and governments;

members of international courts of law;

university chancellors; university professors of social science, history, philosophy, law and theology;

leaders of peace research institutes and institutes of foreign affairs;

former Nobel Peace Prize laureates;

board members of organisations that have received the Nobel Peace Prize;

present and past members of the Norwegian Nobel Committee; (committee members must present their nomination at the latest at the first committee meeting after February 1);

former advisers at the Norwegian Nobel Institute.
Observing the rules given in the statutes of the Nobel Foundation, the Committee does not publish the names of candidates. "

I even heard one of the talking heads say there wasn't any such thing as a nomination process.

There is a nomination process, just as there was a nomination process for the 2003 gubernatorial recall election in Florida. I would question the judgement, however, of anyone (with a few exceptions*) who would boast of being a gubernatorial nominee.

(*) For some people, like Mary Carey, such a claim might be good for business due to novelty value.
I'm sure being nominated for the Nobel Prize probably feels pretty good, but the term "nominee" might better be described as "applicant".
