TERRI'S FIGHT
(Thread 5 - November 5-7)
(Link back to Thread 4 - Nov. 3-4)

.

Contained in Thread 4:

.

Resource links to search business and criminal records in Florida, info on special guardian ad litum meeting (attempt to change qualifications?), Michael Schiavo parody, link to referral letter for Dr. Hammersfahr to the Nobel committee, transcript to Abrams Report closing commments - Nov.3, e-mail address for Larry King Live, Florida statutes on guardianship and some damning statements against Michael.

.

Click on pic for Terri's website

.

This thread serves as a place for posting all new general information and references, along with links following Terri's case, plus information on cable news and talk radio shows dealing with the issue, court cases and press releases. This is also the place to post contact information, prayers and general discussion.

If you have something that qualifies as BREAKING NEWS or FRONT PAGE NEWS, please post it on a separate thread in that category in order to give it maximum exposure and then post a link to the article/thread here so that it will be included in the next update of links. Also, if you post links to articles from original sources and there is also a thread on FR, please link to the FR thread. Many original links become corrupt over time and we want to be able to access the information at will.

I know we're all getting tired, but we have to hang in there. This isn't just Terri's fight anymore. It is our fight too. To everyone who has worked tirelessly to gather information, write letters, make phone calls, spend time in prayer, be at the vigil supporting Terri's family and all the many other offerings you have given for this effort, thank you and may the Lord richly bless you.

Back again after making a nice dinner for my husband. I really enjoyed the food, knowing that for the moment, things are looking up for Terri. I am eating tonight and Terri is eating tonight and hopefully she will be able to keep eating.

In all the recent good news I think an e-mail address should be broadcast again. Earlier today someone put in a wonderful post with all kinds of e-mail addresses. I hunted back and found the e-mail address and sent Judge Greer the following e-mail.

I think it would be good if others also shared with him their thoughts on this court case and his rulings. Perhaps it woudl be nice if the e-mails were spread out over time, so go ahead and draft your e-mail and save it. Send it out at a good time for you so he doesn't get 300 e-mails in the course of one hour type of thing, know what I mean?

We need to keep the pressure up on him. I am sure others will write more eloquently I was carried away with the moment- Anyway here is hat I wrote

e Mail address I used and I hope it is right - courts@jud6.org

Subject = Judge Greer - IT'S About Time!!!
Message =
Judge Greer

It is about time you made a sensible ruling in the case of Terri Shindler Schiavo.

I am from [insert my midwestern state], I'm not part of anything organized, and not currently a member of a church even.

I strongly believe in the Untied States of America Constitution, the First Amendment that starts with "The right to LIFE, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

This Michael Schiavo definitely has a conflict of interest. #1 Follow the money, #2 follow the money, #3 follow the money.

He is a Husband in Name Only. Let him move on with his life, I bear him no grudge. However it is OUTRAGEOUS that he has moved on with his life yet has the parents of that poor woman dancing on a hot tin roof, starving their own very own daughter to death, and he claiming that he is better qualified to make these decisions and not them.

Maybe at one time he was the better qualified guardian, but not any more. His actions, his own actions have demonstrated that he is an inferior guardian compared to any one of her blood family members. He does not have Terri's best interest at heart, he has his own best interest at heart.

I am watching and following this case via the internet. This is more important than a hanging chad, which was the last time I was interested in Florida court cases.

My God if we have come so low in this country that we let a HINO (Husband In Name Only) get state sanction to slowly kill a woman and deny her parents and brothers and sister the right to even be in physical contact with her while she is dying over their objections, while he goes home at night to another woman and his children bore of the other woman, well I just don't know what to say? My God please don't sink us that low.

Judge in baseball tie goes to the runner. If there is a tie here between the HINO and the blood family you have got to give "tie goes to the runner", give Terri the runner, the benefit of Life and grant guardianship to the blood family.

That is all I have to say from [insterted my state], other than the fact that with the Internet all eyes are on YOU.

Respectfully,
[I stated my name address and phone number]

If anyone has a better e-mail address for Judge Greer pl let me know and I'll re-send.

Everyone take a moment, construct an e-mail and send it off at a time that seems right to you. I'm not in Florida I can't stand vigil, but this small thing I can do and so can you!

Let's hope George W. Greer is playing the role of Pontius Pilate and wants to wipe his dirty hands of the whole Schiavo matter. He now knows that he will be remembered in history as the corrupt, arrogant judge who twice ordered the starvation/dehydration of an innocent disabled woman. What kind of legacy is that? And we know what "legacy" means to liberals? As Andrew Jackson said of the Second Bank of the United States: "The bank is trying to kill me, but I will kill it." So should George W. Greer say: "Get all Schiavo files out of my presence now in as painless a way as possible to my reputation!"

Schiavo must now feel betrayed by Greer, while Felos probably consoles him by saying "everything will work out yet." Really, Greer has no more reason to challenge the guardianship now than he did five years ago. In other words, Schiavo should have never been the guardian, once it became clear that he had such a glaring conflict of interest. I bet neither Jodi nor mother-in-law to-be Eleanor are pleased tonight.

"I have no names. They are confidential because only Michael Schiavo and Atty Felos have had ACCESS TO TERRI'S MEDICAL RECORDS. This was all discussed in a Monday evening press conference held by Terri's attorney Pat Anderson. Terri arrived at MPH around 6:00 pm. THE IV WASN'T STARTED UNTIL 9:30 pm."

It's a good thing I said "should this information ever become available" in my letter to Noory. I suppose now that the only way this info can become public is to appear in some kind of court transcript. Or the unlikely possibilty that one of the doctors goes public.

The doctors who did this deserve as much public criticism as Greer, Felos and M. Schiavo.

I've wondered that too. On the other hand, I've also wondered whether Jodi couldn't have something up her sleeve. After all, I'm not sure that she's necessarily done anything that she could be prosecuted for, especially if she were to suddenly start singing like a canary. She could tell what a monster Michael was and get him locked up for a long time while she keeps all the assets that were conveniently placed in her name.

I believe that Michael claimed she was at the malpractice suit. Admittedly, he may have been lying then in the hopes of getting more money, but there was from what I understand consensus at the time that the therapy was working.

Kate Adamson was just on O'Reilly. Her witness was unbelievably wrenching.

She stated that when she heard Michael Schiavo say that removal of food and hydration was painless she could not believe it. As it turns out they removed her feeding tube for 8 days after diagnosing her as PVS and she said it was pure torture, unbearable and yet she did indeed bear it.

Her husband insisted they put the tube back in or he would sue everybody involved. He stated that he told the Drs that she would communicate with him by blinking but the Doctors would not believe him.

He's a lawyer though and promised that he wouldn't sue if they reinserted the g-tube. Some time later Mrs Adamson recovered and today looks wonderful.

They deserve big kudos for speaking out.

Thanks for that post. I don't watch TV much, actually don't even get cable, so I depend on you and others to communicate what is on the TV and radio news and shows about Terri.

I always check out web sites. I don't get larry King so I read the HINO interview on teh web site. Would you know the web site of O'Reilly?

So Kate said that getting your feeding tube removed was not "the second easiest painless way to go besides an anuyerism" as MS stated?

What is really wierd in all of thei sis that i have a living will drafted by our attorney and so do my parents. Both of my parents specifically have stated in their living will that they do not want to be maintained via feedign through a tube. We talked about this and that is what they want. My husband and I both have in our living wills that we don't want to be artificially supported when "terminal" however we do want to be fed. So even within my own family our personal choices are different. At least in my family we speciafally have these things spelled out.

If a person doesn't talk specifically about food and water prior to being Terminal/Brain Dead/ PV or whatever you want to call it, then I dont' think any of us should consider food and water to be extrordinary. I am going to write to my governor and ask that these quetions be included in the Drivers License Application. We already have the Organ Donor questions, why not ask these other questions and finish the job. At least it wouold be on the record somewhere what your wishes are.

I keep wondering how much they look over their shoulder. There is an old saying -- and every woman understands it -- that if he'll cheat WITH you, he'll cheat ON you. Let's take that another step: If he bumps off his wife to marry YOU, how do you know he won't bump you off for his next girl friend?

Jodi can rationalize the adultery, perhaps. But can she dismiss all doubts about Michael's probable beating of Terri... possible attempted strangulation... and now openly lethal intentions toward the woman who is still his wife?

If I were she, I'd get the heck out of Dodge.

What a difference from what your link says:

After a hearing on Wednesday, Greer rejected a request from Schiavo for the Schindlers' latest petition to be dismissed. That decision means Schiavo's attorneys must respond in court to the charges in the suit, which include:

* Adultery in violation of Florida law;

* Misappropriation of funds awarded by a civil jury for Terri's rehabilitation;

* Conflict of interest. The Schindlers believe Schiavo may be trying to end Terri's life to avoid paying alimony that could be awarded if a new guardian successfully petitioned for a divorce on her behalf;

* Denial of health care in violation of Florida law;

* Failure to meet deadlines for completing guardianship plans as required by Florida law;

* Failure to complete annual guardian training as required by Florida law;

* Authorizing experimental medial procedures without court approval;

* Concealing information from the court; and

* Exceeding the specific guardianship authorities granted by the court, also allegedly in violation of Florida law.

And this one:

Attorneys for Michael Schiavo now have to respond in court to charges in the petition that he withheld proper care and therapy from his wife, Terri Schiavo, and that he has a conflict of interest because he's in a romantic relationship with another woman.

I respect others choices but I have a problem with blanket advanced directives. You can't be prepares for every situation. My husband and I have decided not to do this. We trust each other to make decisions and would do so with parent(s) support. While no one wants artifical means, at times it is appropriate. What if you had to have an ER surgery and needed to be medically sedated (vent) a few days to allow your body rest to recover or were in a coma temp. that could be reversible.

It's a little late to tell Jodi to get the heck out of St. Petersburg. She just had another child and is "in love." She is waiting for a formal Catholic wedding. And she has the house, vehicle, etc. in her name to make sure the groom comes through. Remember too that Schiavo has dehydrated and starved both parents already too. But Jodi knows that would never happen to her!

That image may work a miracle!

Do you remember "Miracle on 34th Street"? It was sacks of mail to Kris Kringle, delivered by an official U.S. Government representative -- the postman! -- that proved in a court of law that he was Santa Claus!

I can see Theresa Marie's Mountain, a great mound of loving birthday cards and contributions, delivered before a judge, proving that Terri is America's sweetheart, will be well cared for, and will live happily ever after.

Krodg & Graymatter,
I think the news article that is the longer one is simply using the items in the law suite. I would love to get a hold of the AP writer who filed the story -Mitch Stacy, I got that name from a link a nice FRper posted. I went on AP.org but don't see any way to e-mail anybody over there.

I would like a better longer story, a follow up. I would like to read the words that were spoken in court. There are a couple people on this message board who were phenominal about getting public records through the Internet. One of you, and you know who you are, do you think it is possible that we will get to read the transcripts of the hearing? Will you be able to dig it up once it get's published?

Sure, Michael would have to go through with the wedding or get left in the cold, but why would Jodi? Seems to me she could start singing like a canary, make herself the hero ("I would have come forward sooner, but was afraid of what that horrible man would do to my parents", etc.) and pocket Michael's "gifts" to her. Seems like a beautiful situation for her to me.

Cindy,
Yes you are right about that. I abbreviated the whole long document there is some flexibility, however overall if I ever become irrerversivly incapacitated, brain dead and relying soly on machines to live, then I don't want to be kept alive like that. My wishes are not short term after an operation type of thing, it's more permenent than that.

My husband and I have both made each other Medical "Power of Attorney" for each other. However suppose my husband is just really bad, and I know his wishes but I just can't make myself follow them, in that case I can (it is within my option, no one can take this from me or step in, it is up to me to step aside) call up the second (after me) Medical Power of Attorney, my sister's husband. In this way he could make the decision and give the orders. It spares the spouse from giving the "word". As an in-law I think he would have an easier time doing this than my blood family. But I gotta tell you I beleive food and water are NOT extrodinary measures and have spelled that out completely.

I am rather shocked that my parents want food and water withheld from them. It will be hard for me to do, God forbid I should ever have to, knowing my own beliefs. I personally could not do that, I would make my big brother or my 2 sisters do that.

"And then there is also Terri's 19th wedding anniversary coming up in a few days NOVEMBER 8th"

Somehow I doubt that she'd much want to remember that at this point. Wouldn't it be wonderful if by yet another miracle, that was the day that ownership guardianship reverted back to her family?

Schiavo has dehydrated and starved both parents already too

He's done this to his parents?

Yes, that's what it says in the Larry King Live transcript. Schiavo said that starvation and dehydration are a "painless" way to die, but we know that he is a liar on that point too.

Reporting which doctor REFUSED to re-insert it (under the apparent direct threats of MS at the hospital after the law was passed) .... THAT is worth reporting.

I agree.....the Doctor that let that monster intimidate him is nothing but a "low life", imho.

Or maybe if she just pays a "rental fee" for use of the building, the wedding can go forward.

I have highlighted that point on a previous message, but it was a day or two ago, and I cannot find it readily.

Theo (can I call you Theo?)
100% I agree with you, it is all about the money.

It is what I wrote Judge Greer.

#3 Follow the Money

I wish I knwo how to post with a big font, would someone who knows how to post with a big font please re-post in a large font with the correct e-mail address for Judge Greer
It is ggreer@co.pinellas.fl.us
This e-mail address should be psoted with a BIG FONT so that people notice it and e-mail him.

I resent my e-mail using the corrected address.

Theo - I would soooooo LOVE to see a new Guardian get appointed and have Terri Divorce him and have MS pay alimony. I never thought of this and you are so right on about this. Would THAT not be sweet?

She wants to make the kids legitimate and unite them formally with the "father."

There's a lot to be said for NOT uniting them formally with that father. Non-husbands are a lot easier to shed, if you should ever have to...
