FROM THE 'DEMOCRATIC UNDERGROUND': A new low for the far left: a post titled, "Why I Hope the Bloodshed Continues in Iraq." I kid you not.
DEMOCRATIC UNDERGROUND DECIDES TO EDIT: Hmmm. After I linked to a truly hideous posting celebrating bloodshed in Iraq, they take the page down. I should have copied the page. First CBS. Now DU. Shine a light on them and they scram.

THE POST: Here's what Democratic Underground didn't want you to see:
I Hope the Bloodshed Continues in Iraq
Well, that should bring the bats out of the attic with fangs dripping. I won't be hypocritcal. It is politically correct, particularly in any Dem discussion to hope and pray and feel for our troops and scream "bring them back now". I'm fighting something bigger.
I'm a 58 year old broad and I can tell you that what is going on in our country isn't the usual ebb and flow of politics where one party is in power and then another; where the economy goes through ups and downs.......yawn, yawn--just wait a bit and things will turn out peachy keen. That stupid la-la land is over.
I realize that not every GI Joe was 100peeercent behind Prseeedent Booosh going into this war; but I do know that that is what an overwhelming number of them and their famlies screamed in the face of protesters who were trying to protect these kids. Well, there is more than one way to be "dead" for your country. They are not only not accompishing squat in Iraq, they are doing crap nothing for the safety, defense of the US of A over there directly. But "indirectly" they are doing a lot.
The only way to get rid of this slime bag WASP-Mafia, oil barron ridden cartel of a government, this assault on Americans and anything one could laughingly call "a democracy", relies heavily on what a shit hole Iraq turns into. They need to die so that we can be free. Soldiers usually did that directly--i.e., fight those invading and harming a country. This time they need to die in defense of a lie from a lying adminstration to show these ignorant, dumb Americans that Bush is incompetent. They need to die so that Americans get rid of this deadly scum. It is obscene, Barbie Bush, how other sons (of much nobler blood) have to die to save us from your Rosemary's Baby spawn and his ungodly cohorts.
I'm not saying this represents anything but a radical fringe. Implying that liberals or Democrats support his kind of poison is absurd. But this exists. And it's part of what's fueling the anger of the far left. (By the way, Democratic Underground has more traffic than this site, Instapundit, the Nation or the New Republic. It boasts over 30,000 subscribers.)

While peaking near 100,000 2 years ago, they now run less than 10,000, according to alexa.com You're reading the data backwards. At alexa, the the lower the number the is, the more popular the site is. DU started at 100,000 2 years ago and is now rated at about 10,000. FR runs between 500-1000.
To: Robert A. Cook, PE; calcowgirl
no no no, that is done by Site Ranking, Not traffic. They were ranked at the top 100,000 site a few years ago, now they have grown to the top 10,000. All is bunk though, freerepublic is top 1000. When you get closer to the top the site traffic starts sky rocketing. The difference between being ranked at 100,000 to 10,000 is minute. The difference between being ranked at 10,000 to 1000 is MONUMENTAL!
For example, Freerepublic is close in rank with MTV.COM, Fark.com etc.

They, uhm, don't fear you; they have no reason to fear you, if you have no weapons....
If ou have no property, no independence, no religion, they have no reason to fear you.

I've spent some time there (ahem).
Did you see the latest gun thread over there? I can FReepmail the link to you if you'd like. The joker who posted some highly skewed survey question (who has used a gun in self-defense, BUT brandishing or its presence does NOT count) turned out to be one of only a few anti-2A posters there. There were LOTS of gun owners and pro-2A posters, incredibly, while posting the usual other Dem stuff.
It actually gave me a little hope. (Unless they were VERY cleverly disguised Freepers, but I didn't get that impression. :-) )

I think I saw that. The ones talking about hunting? Yes, there were many reasonable posts. One even said that hunters do more for conservation than anyone else, which is true. Very strange post to see at DU. However, I could tell that they think of the threat of gun confiscation as a paranoid conspiracy theory. Nope. They don't seem to know what "foot in the door" means to Sarah Brady types. People like her will never stop, until they have all the firearms out of the "little people's" hands. I believe that. If that makes me a kook, I'm a kook.
As I posted this morning, two rival coyotes went at it near Casa Grande, AZ yesterday. Four dead. Now, we have illegal alien smugglers shooting at each other, along with illegal drug smugglers. Just imagine, if guns were banned. IMO, you haven't seen violence, until rival gun smugglers and underground manufacturers start going at each other. Criminals with guns will rule, and they're going to do anything to get their hands on one.

Implying that liberals or Democrats support his kind of poison is absurd. Oh, but many do. Certainly not all, and probably not the majority, but many. ....And not always openly.

Here are links to details about DU's and FR's traffic. Hey, thanks for those links ;-)
On DU's absolute best day they are not in a league with us on our absolute worst day. Not even in the same league. They've been tanking hard lately.
To: sphinx
I have always thought Skinner is pretty level headed. There are a few stable adults at DU (and not all of them are undercover Freepers) with whom one can have a reasonable discussion.True. There's a handful of posters there that I actually like to read their posts.

Thanks for the info on Alexa.
I read more after my post... and realized the error of my ways
... but you'd already set the record straight.
Thanks.
To: Timesink
It's not one of us. DU profile pages keep track of how many posts a given user has made; Starpass has posted well over 7000.
Yikes! That does seal it then. I don't think I've ever made it past 20 or so posts without being banned there. I've tried to swell my totals by just posting inoccuous stuff:
Pol Pot Lover: I have my body pierced in 24 places.
[Owl_Eagle]: That's cool!
But there's just too much insanity there.

It is true that polite Fabian type socilist are quite capable of rationalising hideous activities by political groups designated as 'progressive' that is wishing to progress towards state ownership of the means of production.
However, in the Viet-Nam War era it was clear that many leftists were possessed of a kind of hate filled malice towards the larger society they lived in. This was no where more marked than in their personal attitudes towards US military personnel. Soldiers were viewed as basically subhuman. I personally encountered this attitude and the way constant defamation of uniformed personnel eventually had the effect of creating a contemptuous attitude towards members of the armed forces in the larger society. I am not saying this is going to happen in the Iraq insurgency but I do think as we stay the course the left liberals through their influence in the media are going to start trying to taint the image of military people as poor, stupid, and frequently vicious.

when* Hillary's prez? Are you
sure you don't want to
re-word that?
"And you shall love the LORD your God
with all your heart,
with all your soul,
with all your mind,
and with all your strength.'" (Mark 12:30)
Yes, oh yes, I want
to re-word that, with all my
heart, soul, mind and strength...
But I'm afraid that
her time has come regardless
of all that's holy.

So you think Hillary will actually become president whenever she runs? I personally think that if she runs, conservatives, libertarians, and a bunch in between will come together and vote anyone else in office other than her.

Hey, if this poster from DU isn't bloodthirsty and traitorous enough, then consider these "thoughts" put forward by a liberal talk show guest here in Utah (the guest was a doctor!). As Dave Barry would say, "I'm not making this up".
- Paul Wolfowitz and other neocons were heavily influenced by some bitter German professor named Strauss at the University of Chicago. This bitter man wanted power through his students.
- Prior to 9/11, crude drawings in Egyptian and Arab calendars depicting airliners crashing into buildings prove that Bush KNEW about the 9-11 attacks beforehand. (By this same principal, a picture in my next year's calendar of Frodo cowering before a Nazgul proves beyond any doubt that Sauron is coming to get us all!!)
Sorry, I have to stop there. It's too infantile to dwell on. But it does prove, as Michael Savage would state, that liberals are brain-damaged.

And that "58 year old broad" will be the first one to accuse us of hate crimes.
