It was chosen on purpose, but not for any religious reason. Tuesday is the least-busy day of the week in commercial air travel. Fewer people on board = less chance of any "Let's Roll"-style passenger uprisings.

So hard to tell with these guys. The amount of mysticism prevalent is so pervasive - Remember the Osama tape released the same day as the Attack on the Indian Parliament, December 2001?

In it, the Saudi mullah and Osama spoke about the dreams of the muj, talking about players in pilot uniforms playing on soccer fields, and dreams and visions of planes, burning buildings etc. Osama said he counselled the brothers not to speak about their dreams and visions with others, in order to preserve the secrecy.
